About Us

Cancer Trials Australia (CTA) is a not-for-profit member-based organisation consisting of 33 clinical sites and 3 medical research institutes across Australia and New Zealand. We support the administration and management of clinical trials across both metropolitan and regional hospitals. We work in close partnership with clinical research sites, Sponsors and Contract Research Organisations to ensure patients can gain access to appropriate clinical trials as quickly as possible. About The Role

We are seeking a Team Leader – Ethics and Governance to lead and manage an established team of professionals to support our clinical research sites.

As the Team Leader – Ethics and Governance, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the ethical conduct of clinical trials, directly impacting patient care and research outcomes. You will provide leadership, direction and supervision to a team of Ethics Submission Specialists, ensuring we provide an exceptional, high-quality service to our clinical research member sites.

You will liaise closely with Research teams at Clinical Research Sites in conjunction with other external stakeholders. You will also nurture strong relationships with local and global CRO’s, as well as national and international biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to mentor and develop junior staff, as well as the ability to identify and implement process improvement opportunities, working alongside experienced team members and develop skills that will help advance your career.

In This Role You Will:

  • Ensure ethics and governance submission services for clinical trials run by nominated sites meet agreed service levels;
  • Lead and manage a team of Ethics Submission Specialists by allocating tasks and monitoring workloads;
  • Prepare and coordinate Ethics and Governance Submissions including the provision of backup support;
  • Oversee the on-going training of Ethics Submission Specialists, ensuring they are continuously developed to undertake their roles as effectively as possible;
  • Maintain active communication with internal and external stakeholders to provide a consultative approach to issues raised; and
  • Identify and implement process improvement opportunities and collaborate with internal team members to ensure optimal service delivery.

About You

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills to nurture positive ongoing relationships with internal and external stakeholders, whilst maintaining a professional approach in all activities.

Qualifications And Experience:

  • Tertiary qualification in Health or Life Sciences;
  • Minimum 3 years of Clinical Research experience
  • Demonstrated experience in the preparation of ethics and governance documentation for clinical trials;
  • Proven experience in staff supervision and mentoring
  • An ability to identify and implement process improvement initiatives;
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • A focus on detail and quality work; and
  • An eagerness to continuously improve and an openness to new responsibilities.
