Jarrah House is a small healthcare facility (alcohol and other drug rehabilitation) with mums and children from newborn to 5 years of age living on-site. Our focus is a 10-week, trauma informed, residential treatment program for women. Staff include counsellors, nurses, social workers, childcare workers and administrative staff. We provide service through our values of professionalism, excellence, accountability and respect/compassion. We are looking for an experienced Childcare Worker to join us on weekends, and to assist in covering personal and annual leave. Under the Children's Services Award, Saturday work is paid at the rate of time-and-a-half and all time worked on a Sunday is paid at the rate of double time.
The Role:
The Childcare Worker makes an important contribution to health support for children, who often come from challenging social circumstances, and supports the redevelopment of the mother-child relationship. Two Childcare Workers help to create an inclusive, fun, safe, healthy, productive and effective learning and development environment for up to 6 children. Workers are responsible for supervising, educating, and supporting Children from 8:45am to 4:45pm each day in Jarjums, the on-site childcare space, which operates 7 days per week. As a Childcare Worker you will create supportive relationships with children and their mothers, keep an accurate and complete record of each child’s progress, routines and interests in accordance with the Early Years Learning Framework and developmental milestones and participate in the requirements of a mandatory reporter.
