Main Responsibilities/Main Tasks

  • Lead the preparation and delivery of monthly management accounts and financial reports.
  • Perform detailed variance analysis and provide insights to support business performance.
  • Oversee balance sheet reconciliations and ensure financial integrity.
  • Manage the fixed asset register and depreciation schedules.
  • Prepare and review accruals, prepayments, and other key journals.
  • Coordinate the annual budgeting process and rolling forecasts.
  • Support statutory reporting and year-end audit processes.
  • Ensure compliance with VAT, Intrastat, and EC Sales reporting requirements.
  • Provide financial guidance and support for department managers and senior leadership.
  • Supervise and mentor the Assistant Management Accountant.
  • Liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, and other third-party stakeholders.
  • Drive continuous improvement in financial processes and systems (e.g., SAP).
  • Support purchase ledger and sales ledger functions as needed.
  • Carry out any other duties commensurate with the grading of the post as may be directed by the line manager.
  • Fully qualified accountant (AAT Level 4), working towards ACCA or CIMA is desirable.
  • Previous experience in management accounting role.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial systems (preferably SAP).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
