We are currently recruiting for Team Lead to join our STC Operations team. You will be joining a professional and international team with extensive knowledge of the industry. Working closely with our customers and vendors, you will provide customers with excellent service. Your expertise ensures that we will continue to set the industry benchmark for seamless and efficient operations.
Stolt Tank Containers (STC) is a leading provider of door-to-door transportation services for bulk- liquid chemicals and food-grade products. With a fleet of more than 45,000 tank containers, STC is the only operator with its own worldwide network of 22 owned and joint venture depots.

What you will be doing
As the Operations Team Lead, you'll lead with exceptional communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Championing a customer-centric approach, you'll ensure efficient handling of operational activities with a focus on meticulous quality control in import and export processes. You’ll work closely with the Operations Manager to enhance operational efficiency and serve as the main point of contact for operations coordinators during escalations.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Oversight – Efficiently execute, oversee, and coordinate day-to-day department operations. Equitably distribute workloads, allocate resources, and assign tasks for maximum efficiency: o Monitor team performance against key performance indicators (KPIs), ensuring operations coordinators meet established goals and standards o Identify improvement areas and implement corrective actions, resolving operational issues promptly o Learn from challenges, applying lessons to maintain updated standard operating procedures (SOPs), customer playbooks, and documentation templates o Keep the Operations Manager informed on daily department activities.
- Team Leadership – Cultivate a positive, collaborative team culture: o Conduct regular team meetings to discuss goals, priorities, and challenges, using constructive feedback for continuous improvement o Actively support team members in their growth and goal attainment, recognizing and rewarding individual and team accomplishments o Onboard new employees and serve as a coach for successful training adoption and implementation, providing training on work processes and customer specifics.
- Exemplify Leadership – Champion the execution of operational activities, leading by demonstrating strong work ethics and commitment to team goals: o Stay updated on new digital tools and system updates. Ensure effective communication of operational updates, facilitating communication between team members and other departments o Be approachable and available to address concerns or questions.
- Compliance & Safety – Contribute to identifying root causes and implementing corrective and preventive actions in events: o Uphold compliance with industry regulations and safety standards, consistently executing activities within STC's quality management system o Act as a key escalation point for internal stakeholders and team members.
Qualifications
- College degree preferred.
- Must have 2 years of experience working in a logistics/shipping company in a similar role or 5 years of experience working in a logistics/shipping company in a similar position.
- Must have knowledge of the logistics industry and transportation networks in their relevant region.
- Leadership – Strong leadership acumen, fostering a collaborative team culture and guiding operations coordinators to achieve peak performance.
- Language Skills – Fluent in English and preferably 1 regional language.
- Communication – Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively convey information to suppliers, customers, and internal teams.
- Team Player – Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Attention to Detail – Meticulous in maintaining accurate documentation with a keen eye for identifying errors and discrepancies.
- Problem Solving – Ability to actively engage in problem resolution with a capacity to think critically and propose solution.
