This role is based in Business Strategy & Operations (BSO) which serves as the strategic backbone and operational enabler for Product Development Data Sciences (PDD). The function ensures organizational excellence through robust quality frameworks, optimized resourcing, and aligned strategic execution. BSO brings together cross-functional capabilities across quality and compliance, workforce planning, and strategic operations to empower leaders and teams to deliver with focus, transparency, and accountability. By connecting enterprise priorities with operational realities, BSO drives consistency, clarity, and coordinated progress across PDD and the broader development organization.
The Opportunity:
The Strategy & Ops Specialist within the Business Strategy & Operations (BSO) function supports the execution of Roche’s PDD strategic initiatives. Working closely with the Strategy & Ops Lead and sub-functional leaders, the Strategy & Ops Specialist contributes to defining and implementing operational priorities, enabling execution across cross-functional teams. This role helps the organization prioritize and enable the delivery of strategic and operational imperatives by leveraging data from operational sources, governance forums, and cross-functional stakeholders. This includes support for cross-functional coordination and planning, leadership forums, strategic roadmapping and prioritization efforts, and ensures clarity and alignment through effective meeting management and initiative follow-up. The position is critical for translating and implementing actionable strategic priorities and may be embedded in one or more PDD sub-functions. Success in this role requires strong comfort operating proactively and at pace within a dynamic, fast-changing, and often ambiguous environment to drive priority needs.
- You coordinate and help drive PDD-wide and functional strategic efforts, both planned and ad-hoc, in alignment with PDD priorities, partnering with sub-functional leaders
- You independently organize and manage recurring leadership meetings (including Quant Team), develop agendas, and document and support the drive and follow-through of outcomes and next steps
- You facilitate structured planning and reporting activities across sub-functions, supporting the execution of strategies such as in silico and 3D
- You lead or co-lead preparation of communications and presentations for functional updates, governance forums, senior leadership reviews, and evolving sub-functional or PDD-wide requirements in partnership with cross-functional stakeholders and leadership
- You partner with finance, HR, and operational teams to align planning and resource deployment for key efforts
- You maintain tools for initiative tracking, performance monitoring, and cross-functional alignment
- You contribute to the development and improvement of operating models and governance practices
Who You Are:
- You hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in business administration, life sciences, public health, or data sciences
- You have a minimum of 5 years of experience in strategic operations, business planning, or project management in pharma or healthcare settings; or an advanced degree with 3 years of equivalent work experience
- You demonstrate ability to independently lead initiatives, manage planning cycles, and facilitate leadership forums
- You are familiar with data- and R&D-oriented operating models and cross-functional execution
- You have capacity for independent thinking and ability to make decisions based upon sound principles
- You have excellent strategic agility including problem-solving and critical thinking skills, and agility that extends beyond technical domain
- You demonstrate respect for cultural differences when interacting with colleagues in the global workplace
- You have excellent verbal and written communication skills, specifically in the areas of presentation and writing, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts in clear language
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience managing operational workstreams or planning cycles within life sciences or data-focused environments
- Working knowledge of OKRs, business performance measurement, or enterprise planning methodologies
- Demonstrated ability to support or co-lead strategy deployment, stakeholder engagement, or governance coordination
- Familiarity with pharmaceutical development processes or data sciences organizational structures
- Experience in facilitating or contributing to complex cross-functional meetings and communications

Relocation benefits are available for this posting
The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Boston is $102,100 - $189,500.00. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
