This role is based in the Innovation Accelerator (IA) team, the innovation engine and connective tissue for Design, Data and Data Science innovation strategy within Product Development Data Sciences (PDD). We translate our long-term PDD vision into actionable strategy, shaping and prioritizing innovative cross-functional use cases that span PDD, PD, and Pharma. As both integrators and incubators, we explore, prototype, and help productize solutions to deliver impact in close partnership with internal Roche teams and external collaborators. With a mindset rooted in openness, value creation, and adaptability, we navigate the innovation ecosystem to drive transformative impact and future readiness across the organization.
The Opportunity:
The Product Manager leads the development and scaling of digital and data-driven solutions that enhance decision-making across Roche’s R&D ecosystem. This role blends product strategy, technical acumen, and agile execution to deliver impactful products from concept through release. The Product Manager collaborates closely with scientific and engineering teams while ensuring alignment and strategically developing business goals, user needs, and regulatory standards. As a key contributor to Roche’s innovation agenda, this role drives continuous improvement and portfolio value realization.
- You lead the product development lifecycle from initial concept and strategy through launch (and beyond) as you build innovative data science and information synthesis capabilities to make informed drug development decisions with ease
- You define product vision, strategy, and success metrics in alignment with broader organizational goals, anticipating industry trends and emerging technologies
- You own the product roadmap and backlog, managing priorities, feature development, and agile ceremonies to ensure timely and effective product releases
- You translate user needs and business requirements into actionable product specifications with a focus on long-term scalability and industry impact
- You collaborate closely with data scientists, engineers, designers, and business stakeholders to facilitate cross-functional alignment and deliver value-driven solutions throughout the product lifecycle
- You monitor and manage product KPIs to evaluate effectiveness and inform strategic course corrections
- You foster user-centered product development by incorporating user feedback, scientific insight, and technical constraints into iterative research, prototyping, and validation cycles
- You navigate the broader Roche ecosystem to influence decisions around ownership and embedding of proven products as they are scaled and maintained across the business
- You identify and manage risks, interdependencies, and opportunities across a dynamic and high-impact product portfolio
- You ensure compliance with data privacy, security, and quality standards in all phases of product development
- You support organizational governance processes through strategic product updates, status reporting, and value-based prioritization
- You recommend and evolve product development frameworks and best practices, contributing to the innovation culture across the function
Who You Are:
- You have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Life Sciences, or a related field
- You have a minimum of 12 years of professional experience in end-to-end product management, including multiple product launches and ownership of strategic roadmaps; or an advanced degree with 8 years of equivalent work experience
- You are recognized as an expert within product management, with deep domain expertise and a broad understanding of digital and data-driven innovation in life sciences
- You have 6+ years of professional experience in at least two of the following domains:
- You have strong familiarity with agile methodologies, backlog management, and sprint execution
- You have demonstrated ability to influence senior-level stakeholders and align product strategies with enterprise goals
- You have proven ability to independently solve complex, ambiguous problems and make high-impact product decisions across cross-functional settings
- You have a passion for continuous learning
- You have a passion for mentoring colleagues of all backgrounds
- You have excellent collaboration skills, including interpersonal skills to contribute effectively in cross-functional team settings, ability to influence others without authority, and ability to build strong collaborative relationships with scientific and non-scientific partners
- You have excellent attention to detail and quality work with an ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously, including both long-term and short-term initiatives
- You have capacity for independent thinking and ability to make decisions based upon sound principles
- You exhibit excellent strategic agility including problem-solving and critical thinking skills, and agility that extends beyond technical domain
- You demonstrate respect for cultural differences when interacting with colleagues in the global workplace
- You possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, specifically in the areas of presentation and writing, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts in clear language
- Working in the healthcare industry, ideally biotechnology or similar sectors
- Building digital and/or SaaS products supporting analysis and decision-making
- Delivering products focused on scientific or quantitative users
Preferred:
- Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Life Sciences, or a related field
- Statistical experience within AI/ML, or data science applications in biomedical settings
- Proven ability to manage complexity and risk in early-phase or technically uncertain projects
Relocation benefits are not available for this posting
The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Massachusetts is $155,400.00 -$288,600.00 USD Annual. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
