This role is based in the Innovation Accelerator (IA) team, the innovation engine and connective tissue for Design, Data and Data Science innovation strategy within Product Development Data Sciences (PDD). We translate our long-term PDD vision into actionable strategy, shaping and prioritizing innovative cross-functional use cases that span PDD, PD, and Pharma. As both integrators and incubators, we explore, prototype, and help productize solutions to deliver impact in close partnership with internal Roche teams and external collaborators. With a mindset rooted in openness, value creation, and adaptability, we navigate the innovation ecosystem to drive transformative impact and future readiness across the organization.
The Opportunity:
The Product Manager leads the development and scaling of digital and data-driven solutions that enhance decision-making across Roche’s R&D ecosystem. This role blends product strategy, technical acumen, and agile execution to deliver impactful products from concept through release. The Product Manager collaborates closely with scientific and engineering teams while ensuring alignment and strategically developing business goals, user needs, and regulatory standards. As a key contributor to Roche’s innovation agenda, this role drives continuous improvement and portfolio value realization.
- You manage the product lifecycle from concept through development and launch, contributing new approaches to build innovative data and information solutions that enable more informed drug development
- You develop product vision, strategy, and KPIs aligned with functional objectives, interpreting internal and external trends to guide improvements to product outcomes
- You own the product roadmap and backlog, managing priorities, sprint execution, and cross-functional collaboration to enable delivery of valuable product features
- You translate user needs and business challenges into clearly defined product requirements, influencing cross-functional teams toward shared outcomes
- You collaborate closely with engineering, UX, and data science teams to ensure product delivery is aligned with scientific, technical, and user needs
- You evaluate product performance through KPI tracking and analysis, recommending adjustments to features or roadmap to enhance effectiveness
- You embed user feedback, scientific context, and technical considerations into iterative product research, prototyping, and refinement
- You navigate the broader Roche ecosystem to influence decisions around ownership and embedding of proven products as they are scaled and maintained across the business
- You identify cross-initiative risks, constraints, and dependencies, contributing to risk mitigation and resource planning at the product or stream level
- You maintain compliance with privacy, security, and quality standards throughout product development
- You communicate product status, value, and risks to functional stakeholders and support product-related inputs to governance
- You participate in the evolution of product development practices and contribute to broader innovation strategy through sharing best practices
Who You Are:
- You have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Life Sciences, or a related field
- You have a minimum of 8 years of professional experience in product management, including direct responsibility for product delivery across multiple lifecycle phases; or an advanced degree with 6 years of equivalent work experience
- You have specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise in product development, with good knowledge of product operations and cross-functional collaboration in life sciences or technology domains
- You have 4+ years of professional experience in at least two of the following domains:
- You have working knowledge of agile methods, backlog management, and sprint planning
- You have proven ability to lead product workstreams or sub-streams in complex, cross-functional projects
- You have demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to propose and implement product solutions to unique business challenges
- You have strong collaboration skills and ability to work across scientific, technical, and business teams
- You have excellent attention to detail and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple initiatives
- You have capacity for independent thinking and ability to make decisions based upon sound principles
- You exhibit excellent strategic agility including problem-solving and critical thinking skills, and agility that extends beyond technical domain
- You demonstrate respect for cultural differences when interacting with colleagues in the global workplace
- You possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, specifically in the areas of presentation and writing, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts in clear language
- Working in the healthcare industry, ideally biotechnology or similar sectors
- Building digital and/or SaaS products supporting analysis and decision-making
- Delivering products focused on scientific or quantitative users
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Life Sciences, or a related field
- Familiarity with data science concepts and/or early-phase R&D product development
- Experience leading initiatives with cross-functional teams under moderate complexity and resource constraints

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Massachusetts is $135,700.00 - $251,900.00 USD Annual. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
