- About the Role
- We are excited to offer an opening to join Springer Nature as a Project Coordinator Open Access for Scientific Reports.
In this role, you will manage the production process of articles from acceptance through to online publication, ensuring that publications meet our quality standards and are delivered on time. You will collaborate closely with offshore vendors, authors, and internal colleagues, and contribute to projects aimed at process optimization and standardization. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in open access publishing and to play a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient delivery of high-quality scientific content.
Role Responsibilities
- Manage the production process of articles from acceptance through to online publication.
- Perform quality checks on manuscripts to ensure adherence to journal style guides and Springer Nature policies.
- Collaborate with offshore vendors, monitoring and managing their performance to meet deadlines and quality standards.
- Communicate proactively with stakeholders including authors, editors, and Springer Nature colleagues across departments.
- Liaise with Marketing and Communications to organize and manage press release articles.
- Act as a procedural and technical mentor for colleagues and support standardization initiatives.
- Contribute to production team meetings, identifying inefficiencies and sharing knowledge.
- Handle post-publication correction requests and tasks involving payments and rights processes.
- Participate in user acceptance testing (UAT) of changes to tools and processes.
- After proven suitability, act as mentor to new starters.
Experience, Skills, and Qualifications
Essential:
- HBO degree or equivalent professional experience.
- Excellent spoken and written English.
- Strong knowledge of content management and workflow systems.
- Good understanding of online publishing formats and tools (XML/HTML).
- Experience with MS Office suite.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Problem-solving and conflict management skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a cross-cultural environment.
Desirable:
- Experience in the publishing industry or in science communication.
- Proven ability to identify inefficiencies and propose improvements.
- Evidence of successful teamwork and collaboration across departments.
