About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain a data lake for logistics operations. This role will be central to enabling advanced analytics, real-time insights, and data-driven decision-making across our supply chain and logistics ecosystem.
The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in data engineering, cloud platforms, and data lake architectures, with proven experience handling large-scale, high-volume logistics or supply chain data.
Responsibilities
- Design, architect, and implement a scalable logistics-focused data lake solution.
- Develop ETL/ELT pipelines to ingest, transform, and organize structured and unstructured logistics data (e.g., shipments, routes, inventory, GPS, IoT sensors, ERP data).
- Integrate multiple data sources including WMS, TMS, ERP, IoT devices, telematics, and external partners.
- Ensure data quality, governance, and security standards are met.
- Optimize data storage for cost, performance, and scalability.
- Work closely with data analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders to enable dashboards, predictive models, and advanced analytics.
- Implement best practices for metadata management, partitioning, data cataloging, and access control.
- Continuously improve the infrastructure to support real-time and batch processing
Requirements
- Bachelorās or Masterās degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering or building large-scale data platforms.
- Proven experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and experience with on-premise servers.
- Strong knowledge of data lake architectures (Delta Lake, Lakehouse, Iceberg, or similar).
- Expertise in ETL/ELT tools (Apache Spark, Databricks, Glue, Airflow, etc.).
- Proficiency in SQL, Python, and distributed data frameworks.
- Experience working with logistics/supply chain data (preferred but not required).
- Strong knowledge of data security, compliance, and governance best practices.
- Ability to translate complex business needs into scalable technical solutions.
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with machine learning workflows in logistics (e.g., route optimization, demand forecasting).
- Experience with real-time data streaming (Kafka, Kinesis, Pulsar).
- Hands-on experience with data visualization and BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, Looker).
