The Marketing Portfolio Manager is a key marketing team member responsible for developing and executing go-to-market strategies for new products and managing portfolio strategies for existing products within an assigned business domain. The role's specific focus is divided into two key areas:
• Mainstream Retail: The Marketing Portfolio Manager for Mainstream Retail is responsible for the growth of our product portfolio, with a special emphasis on our brand, Shirakiku, in mainstream retail channels.
• Food Service and Asian Retail: The Marketing Portfolio Manager for Food Service and Asian Retail is responsible for the continued growth of our portfolio, particularly our brand, Shirakiku, in our traditionally strong channels.
The Marketing Portfolio Manager will collect and analyze consumer and customer insights for the focus segments within their assigned market; Lead the creation and execution of segment/category-specific marketing tactics, which include managing both the product portfolio and brand promotion.
This role reports to the Senior Marketing Manager, who oversees and harmonizes the overall U.S. marketing strategy. The Marketing Portfolio Manager will also collaborate with expert marketing professionals, such as insight researchers, designers, and brand promoters. This individual will manage complex projects, mentor junior team members, and work cross-functionally to ensure that all marketing initiatives align with overarching business objectives.
Essential Job Functions:
• Collect and analyze consumer, customer, and market insights to develop a data-driven business strategy for the assigned market or segment.
• Lead product development and portfolio management initiatives in prioritized "must-win" categories to maximize revenue. Monitor and communicate the strategy and its progress with key stakeholders, and be agile in updating it based on key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Collaborate with an insight researcher to integrate consumer insights into product concept briefs and develop consumer-oriented Shirakiku products.
• Co-led consumer promotion and branding efforts for the responsible market with a Brand Promoter.
• Manage content calendars, project timelines, and external agency relationships to ensure timely and high-quality deliverables.
• Champion efficient marketing operational tools and systems, such as Sales Force Automation (SFA) and Marketing Automation (MA), within the assigned business area. Collaborate with the Japan HQ marketing team to customize and launch digital initiatives to better connect with U.S. consumers and customers.
• Work with Finance on budget reconciliation and performance forecasting.
Experience/ Training/ Education
• Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, or a related field.
• MBA in Marketing is highly preferred
• 3 to 5 years of progressive experience in marketing, with a demonstrable track record of successfully developing and executing impactful marketing strategies and campaigns.
• Proven experience in a leadership role, managing complex projects, and potentially mentoring team members.
• Extensive experience across a broad range of marketing channels, with deep expertise in digital marketing, content strategy, and performance analytics.
• Experience in the food industry is highly desirable.
• Certifications in relevant marketing platforms (e.g., Google Ads, Salesforce Marketing Cloud) is a plus

• Passion for Asian food, culinary trends, and consumer insights.
• Advanced Analytical Acumen: Exceptional ability to analyze complex data sets, derive meaningful insights, and make data-driven decisions that impact business outcomes. Proficient in advanced Excel, BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI), and marketing analytics platforms (e.g., Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics).
• Results-Oriented: Proven ability to drive measurable results and a strong understanding of ROI in marketing.
• Leadership & Mentorship: Demonstrated ability to lead projects, influence cross-functional teams, and mentor junior colleagues.
• Communication & Presentation: Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex marketing strategies and results clearly and persuasively to executive leadership and diverse audiences.
• Expert Project Management: Superior organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple high-priority projects concurrently, set clear deadlines, and ensure execution.
• Technical Proficiency: Expert-level experience with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce), marketing automation platforms (e.g., HubSpot, Marketo, Pardot), SEO/SEM tools, and content management systems.
• Creative & Innovative: A blend of creative thinking and analytical rigor to develop fresh, effective marketing approaches.
• Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and proactively adjust strategies based on evolving market conditions and performance data.
Working conditions:
Work in a comfortable office environment. Occasional extended hours to meet deadlines. Marketing projects may require on-call availability, including weekends, early mornings, evenings, and holidays. Managers may be required to travel domestically or internationally for business purposes, such as attending parent-company meetings or visiting branch offices for marketing analysis and campaign support.
