Operational in Indonesia for more than 40 years, IOM Indonesia is one of the largest IOM missions in the world working on a wide range of activities in partnership with the Government of the Republic of Indonesia, civil society, private sector actors, migrants and communities. IOM Indonesia is engaged in several thematic areas, including: Counter-Trafficking (CT), Labour Mobility and Social Inclusion (LMSI), Disasters, Climate and Resilience (DCR), Immigration and Border Governance (IBG), Refugee Care, Migration Health, Migration Policy and Data Hub, and Resettlement and Voluntary Returns.
IOM Indonesia aims to ensure quality of care for refugees and asylum seekers referred to IOM by the Government of Indonesia according to applicable international humanitarian and human rights standards. The programme supports refugees through healthcare, education, basic needs, as well as to contribute to the increased protection of vulnerable subgroups, such victims of sexual and gender based violence, among others, through referral mechanisms involving the active participation of specialized state and non-state service providers. It also contributes to supporting them with the eventual sustainable pathways.
IOM’s Mobility & Resilience Unit and Climate Resilience Team work on preparedness and prevention as well as in emergency response in terms of climate-induced displacement. Under the direct supervision of the National Project Officer and overall supervision of the Programme Coordinator, the Project Associate will be mainly responsible for the implementation of EU-Asean MECC project activities, including other assigned projects in line with the approved workplans and budgets to support the field team. Work closely with relevant IOM staff and partners to ensure the centrality of protection in the response and to strengthen the protection environment for the refugees.
Responsibilities And Accountabilities
- Under the supervision of the National Project Officer, support the implementation of project activities, stakeholder engagement, events planning in line with the approved workplans and budgets and according to IOM standards;
- Take active part in stakeholder engagement on climate migration related project portfolio and network with related parties on knowledge products dissemination, arrangement of meetings and webinars, especially with ASEAN counterparts, government and non-government representatives working on climate-induced displacement related areas;
- Support project activities including but not liminted to government agencies, NGOs, private sector, civil society groups, etc. Consolidate IOM’s climate migration knowledge and best practices contributing to ASEAN knowledge management priorities;
- Support the climate team to complie and update relevant information to improve internal learning, reporting and project teamwork;
- Support the development of communication plan and visibility strategy in line with the requirements of IOM and donors, and in coordination with project partners, to help ensure a positive exposure of project activities and results;
- Support project internal and external reporting with documentation, data, information and relevant materials;
- Perform any other duties as required.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Social Work, Gender, Development Studies, International Relations or a related field from an accredited academic institution with at least three years of relevant working experience, or;
- Completed High School degree from an accredited academic institution, with at least five years of relevant working experience.
- With working experience in engagement with ASEAN and diplomatic representations to facilitate liaison and coordination with institutional stakeholders;
- Experience in supporting institutional liaison, development programmes, climate-related programmes, preferably programmes targeting populations on the move;
- Excellent interpersonal skills;
- Respect for diversity;
- Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
