This IP Routing Product Line Management role with a technical specialization in Linux will involve working on some the following topic areas:
- A wide range of Linux-specific software architecture and design for complex embedded routing/switching systems
- Linux process and application handling including the kernel, filesystem (sysfs, procfs), and system initialization processes (systemd)
- OS and router control plane data extraction and injection architecture
- OS and router protection strategies (control plane architecture, OS tasks and memory, DDoS protection mechanisms, secure boot and other platform trust functions)
- New products, platforms and datapath chipsets and how those affect the system software design
- Fundamental system and card behavior such as error recovery, boot strategies, error handling, High Availability (redundant control cards, warm restart processes) and ISSU (In Service Software Upgrade)
- Control plane, data plane and file encryption including TLS, MACsec, and post quantum cryptography
- AAA (local passwords & profiles, TACACS+ and RADIUS based AAA) and related security features such as SFTP, encryption & authentication
- Scripting languages such as Python
- Event logging, notification and alarming
- Automation technologies and router management protocols such as YANG, gRPC (gNMI, gNSI, gNOI), NETCONF, Telemetry, JSON & XML, transactional configuration, data modeling
Key Responsibilities:
- Synthesizing input from business centers, pre-sales organizations, business development groups, standards bodies and customers to identify and prioritize development of features and products with maximum business impact
- Building business cases to select and justify development opportunities that optimize short & long term revenue and profit by delivering real value to our customers
- Defining detailed technical requirements for product development and test groups, including but not limited to scaling, redundancy, security aspects
- Balancing market & customer demands with R&D capabilities/resources and general IP Routing strategy and direction
- Searching for opportunities to open new markets and differentiate vs competitors but also be practical to ensure we spend development effort on profitable ventures
- Staying up to date in your areas of responsibility by reading standards, talking with customers & regional colleagues, looking at competitor whitepapers & communications
- Creating technical customer documentation with the help of the technical writers
- Supporting sales & support teams with product expertise and delivering presentations to internal groups and external customers
- Occasional travel to other Nokia sites, standards meetings, and customer premises
You Have:
- 5+ years (10+ preferred) in telecommunications related product management or system architecture (or a combination of product development, test, product management, business development or technical marketing).
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Computer, Systems, Telecommunications Engineering or equivalent
- In depth expertise of Linux (ideally from a software development or system design background) including the kernel, filesystem, initialization processes and process handling
- Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Bash, Shell)
- Technical expertise in telecommunications, IP networking, router or switch architecture and embedded operating systems
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and presentation skills
- Strong interpersonal, cross-team collaboration and negotiation skills as well as the ability to influence others
- Familiarity with software and hardware product development methodology
- Ability to rapidly build solid technical understanding across a broad set of functionality and design
It would be nice if you also had:
- Cloud and Kubernetes experience including cgroups, runtimes and the CNI specification would be an asset
- Expertise in virtualization technologies including containerization
