Job Purpose
The Youth Leadership Manager is responsible for expanding youth leadership programming at Liliʻuokalani Center (LC). This position ensures that youth leadership initiatives reflect LC’s mission/vision and are rooted in best practices in youth development, contributing to a positive, supportive, and empowering space for Native Hawaiian youth. Working in collaboration with teammates across ʻŌlino Pathway programs, the Youth Leadership Manager will expand the current leadership opportunities that are youth-designed and developed. Key components of the role include implementing current youth leadership program curriculum, pilot innovative current leaders program, reestablish the LT Youth Council within LC, continue mentorship experiences, and support youth-led initiatives that strengthen community connection and personal growth. This role requires experience in youth development, program design, mentorship models, and collaborative leadership.
Liliʻuokalani Center (LC):
Liliʻuokalani Center programs are designed to engage youth ages 12 - 24 in the spectrum of adolescent development, providing kamaliʻi creative spaces, programming, and resources within a hub for youth co-development. Core to the LC program framework is the focus on centering Native Hawaiian youth voice around culture and connection in Hawaiʻi while promoting healing for early experiences that have created dissonance, challenge, or trauma. Events, activities and multi-week programs are designed to support kamaliʻi in deepening their awareness, discovery and understanding of cultural identity, community, and place while progressing through learning and developments that guide their transition to adult roles.
Essential Responsibilities
• In collaboration with LC leadership, expand the Kalo Framework model of youth leadership and mentorship programming rooted in the unique needs, strengths, and aspirations of kamaliʻi at LC.
• Build upon collaborative, creative, and culturally grounded strategies for engaging youth in leadership programming.
• Expand the LT Youth Council that informs program design and new initiatives at LC, providing guidance and specific opportunities aligned to youth needs.
• Collaborate with teammates across LC program pathways to embed opportunities for youth leadership into LC’s broader programming.
• Grow local partnerships that expand opportunities for youth and support the delivery of high-quality programming.
• Continue to provide impactful mentorship experiences, creating space for youth to build ongoing relationships with adult and peer mentors who align with their personal and professional interests.
• Maintain an understanding of current youth interests and challenges and use that knowledge to inform program direction.
• Model positive group management practices and actions that ensure the safety of program participants by developing healthy relationships and appropriate physical and emotional boundaries with youth.
• Provide opportunities for LC teammates to engage in professional learning around youth leadership best practices.
• Stay informed on emerging youth leadership research and integrate evolving best practices into LC’s youth leadership programs
Other duties:
• Participate in and lead, as appropriate, program planning, budget development, revision, and evaluation.
• Contribute to the Trust’s success by accepting new assignments, helping team members, learning new skills, and collaborating as we strive to attain the Trust’s strategic goals.
• Provide transportation for organization related business, such as driving staff, beneficiaries and/or families to assigned destinations.
• Participate in continuing education and training opportunities for professional development .
• Evening and Saturday hours required as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in education, social services, or other relevant field (Master’s degree preferred).
• 5+ years of relevant knowledge and experience in youth program design, implementation, and evaluation.
• Deep understanding of Native Hawaiian culture, values, and history, with the ability to integrate these into wellness programming and holistic development .

Travel Requirements:
In alignment with our organizational competencies of Alu Like I ka Hana (Teamwork) and Hoʻomau i ka ʻimi Naʻauao (Continuous Learning and Improvement), this position will require occasional travel across the island, inter-island, and out-of-state depending on the needs of the team and the organization. While travel may not always be a need, the ability to travel when required remains a crucial aspect of this position.
