Job Purpose
The Global Markets Business Finance team comprises Business Unit Control, Independent Price Verification, and Central MI and Change Management teams. The team supports the Global Markets and Group Treasury businesses both locally and internationally. The unit falls under the Group Finance department and reports to the CFO, CIB Finance & International.
Key priorities of this role include:
- Providing world-class financial reporting and support services, adding value through professional, independent, and objective financial advice that assists in achieving business objectives while complying with Group policies, standards, and external statutory obligations.
- Producing financial and management accounting reports for the functional area of responsibility in line with Group reporting standards, while maintaining a robust control environment.
The Business Unit Control team is responsible for the accounting and financial reporting of the Global Markets & Treasury business. It acts as a primary control function, monitoring trading activity to ensure it remains within the specified remit. Tasks include:
- Profit & Loss (P&L) reporting decomposition and attribution.
- Addressing ad hoc management reporting queries.
- Reconciling and substantiating P&L and Balance Sheet items between the General Ledger (Oracle General Ledger & OneSumX) and source systems (e.g., Murex).
This role focuses on the day-to-day tasks related to the International Business Unit Control function, such as:
- Daily preparation and control of P&L.
- General ledger reconciliations and variance analysis.
- Providing explanations, commentaries, and MI reporting.
- Qualified professional (ACA / CFA / MBA in Finance) preferred, or 3–5 years of experience in a Product Control function.
- Experience in developing financial and other MI reporting, including automation of processes.
- Technical knowledge of pricing and accounting for financial products: Fixed Income, MM, FX, IR, Commodities, Equities, and Derivatives (Vanilla & Complex).
- Strong understanding of Global Markets and Investment Banking products, with related technical and accounting treatments.
- Excellent understanding of modern governance, risk, and control assessment techniques.
- Strong financial mathematics knowledge (zero, par, and forward/forward curves).
- Working knowledge and experience with Murex, OneSumX, Power BI, and T24 systems is an advantage.
