The Rail Division (RRD) consists of four sections. The Planning and Programming Section leads rail planning, state and federal grants, leases and operating agreements for rail services on state-owned facilities and state-subsidized passenger rail routes. The Rail Letting Section oversee planning, project development and agreements for TxDOT let projects impacted by railroads. RRD's Rail Grade Crossing Section administers funding and projects for improving rail highway crossings. The Rail Safety and Compliance Section participates with the Federal Railroad Administration and the Federal Transit Administration to enforce compliance with federal rail and transit regulations.

This position will be based in our new, state-of-the-art headquarters in South Austin.

Position Description

 

Business Services Coordinator II 
Salary Grade B23 $61,184 - $99,658
Oversees, plans and coordinates administrative and management services work to include various operational areas related to budget, accounting, legislative analysis, division director’s presentations, office support services to include equipment, facilities, purchasing and contract administration. Work requires contact with governmental agencies and private entities. Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives. Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence.
 

Essential Duties:

-    Analyzes incoming correspondence, reports and other materials related to administrative areas; coordinates with appropriate personnel to initiate proper action.
-    Assists in planning division budget needs utilizing program analysis.
-    Coordinates administrative services for asset management, central files, rail programs, and open records request.
-    Implements and interprets administrative policies and procedures.
-    May lead daily administrative operations including inventory, expediting purchases, mail, budget monitoring.
-    Plans, coordinates, develops and implements the organization budget and provides financial advice to the staff.
-    Trains and assist with interns. 
-    Assist the division director with presentations and reports. 
-    Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Business Administration related field. Relevant work experience may be substituted for degree on a year per year basis. Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications

Experience: 5 years management, business operations and administration and/or staff support functions. (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent). Related graduate level education may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis.

Licenses and Certifications: Valid driver’s license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.

Physical Requirements And Working Conditions:
