Prn Position

The Resident Technology Support Specialist provides hands-on technology assistance to residents of The Arlington. This role is responsible for helping seniors set up, learn, and troubleshoot their personal devices, applications, and other digital tools, with the goal of improving connectivity, independence, and overall quality of life.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities:

  • Assist residents with the setup and operation of cell phones, tablets, laptops, televisions, printers, and other devices.
  • Provide guidance on installing and using applications such as FaceTime, Zoom, email, and other communication tools.
  • Support residents with creating and managing email accounts, connecting to Wi-Fi, and syncing devices.
  • Teach residents how to use video calls, text messaging, photo sharing, and other digital features.
  • Troubleshoot common technology issues, including device updates, app malfunctions, printer connectivity, and password recovery.
  • Offer individualized instruction to help residents gain confidence with technology.
  • Develop simple, written instructions or “quick reference guides” tailored to resident needs.
  • Provide education on online safety, including identifying scams, phishing attempts, and best practices for password management.
  • Assist with setup and use of streaming services (e.g., Netflix, Hulu, YouTube) and other entertainment platforms.
  • Maintain a professional, patient, and respectful approach when interacting with residents.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical training or certifications preferred.
  • Working knowledge of smartphones (iOS and Android), tablets, laptops, printers, smart TVs, and Wi-Fi setup.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to explain technical concepts in simple terms.
  • Demonstrated patience and empathy when working with older adults.
  • Previous experience in IT support, technical training, or customer service preferred.

Working Conditions:

  • PRN, as-needed schedule based on resident needs.
  • Work is performed onsite at The Arlington of Naples.
