About The Opportunity

Australia Post delivers the best freight service for Australian Businesses, and we are looking for a Group Manager of Freight Services Planning to report into the Head of Freight Experience & Planning in our Parcels, Post & eCommerce Services division. You will have one direct report and be able to work in an Agile way to lead and embed strategic planning and prioritisation practices across Freight Services. In this position you will ensure that plans are aligned with enterprise goals, give visibility of delivery risks and be a critical enabler for the GM of Freight Services, Head of Freight Experience & Planning and the wider Freight Services team. 

What you’ll deliver with us  

In this role you will help us win in eCommerce by elevating expertise and delivering features to customers faster and with more focus. You will bolster the Freight Services Planning function. Elevating the level of expertise that enables: balanced prioritisation, planning cadences, planning support for the GM, visibility of risk, issues and dependencies. You will oversee the execution of initiatives, funding requests and portfolio performance from a planning and delivery perspective. You'll drive the adoption of Agile planning and delivery practices across the Freight Services team. 

You’Ll Also

  • Take a RAID (Risk, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies) view to freight services work across Parcels, Post & eCommerce Services, including mitigation plans for risks that goes alongside RAID management. 
  • You will connect eCommerce value chains and bring Agile delivery experience to uplift the capability of the team. 
  • You will effectively lead, coach and develop an Experience & Planning Performance lead, reporting to you. Who will be tasked with collating insights, maintaining a pain point register, cascading metrics tracking across products and working with the governance tool (Shibumi) as a single source of truth for investment governance.
  • You'll partner with the GM of Freight Services to align initiatives with strategic priorities and funding cycles and facilitate trade-off discussions and sequencing of initiatives across programs. 
  • You will support business case development and benefits realisation tracking. 
  • Embedding agile planning and delivery practices will be a key part of your role, supporting backlog development, sprint planning and cross-functional ceremonies. You'll be a champion of continuous improvement and adaptive planning with a history outcomes.
  • You'll drive alignment through joint planning forums and updated RACI models, and ensure that planning supports customer-centric outcomes across Sender and Receiver journeys. 

About You

You will have extensive experience in an Agile environment of collaborating with a complex and multi-tiered stakeholder group to realise commercial outcomes. You will be able to articulate how you've driven commercial outcomes in the past and able to show a proven record in enacting delivery predictability & cadence.   

You’Ll Also Need

A proven ability to lead and embed strategic planning and prioritisation practices across complex service portfolio, and experience aligning initiatives to enterprise goals. A capability to oversee imitative execution, funding requests and portfolio performance tracking. You will be able to co-ordinate across teams as varied as product, operations, retail and technology. 

You'll be able to identify and mitigate initiative delivery risks, manage dependencies and ensure compliance with governance frameworks and standards.
