About The Job
We are seeking a highly organized and hands-on Facilities Manager to oversee the daily operations, maintenance, and long-term planning of our Umbra East facilities. This role is responsible for ensuring that all building systems are functioning efficiently and reliably. The Facilities Manager will manage vendor and contractor relationships, supervise maintenance and construction projects, and ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards. Additionally, this role will lead space planning, optimize office layouts, and coordinate office services and resources to support a productive and safe workplace. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and skilled at balancing day-to-day operational needs with long-term facility improvements.
This position is based on-site in our Arlington, VA office.
Key Responsibilities
Facility Operations & Maintenance
- Oversee the maintenance, repair, and improvement of facility systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and security systems.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the facility, including receiving shipments, trash removal, and oversight of custodial services and landscaping.
- Schedule and manage preventive maintenance while responding to maintenance emergencies and unexpected disruptions.
- Conduct regular inspections of buildings, grounds, and equipment to ensure proper functionality and safety.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure facilities comply with safety, health, environmental, and building code requirements.
- Conduct regular safety audits and prepare related reports and documentation.
- Develop and implement emergency response procedures (e.g., fire evacuation, natural disasters).
- Assist in developing and implementing policies and procedures related to facility maintenance, safety, and security.
Vendor, Contractor & Budget Management
- Manage relationships with external vendors and contractors, ensuring adherence to service level agreements (SLAs).
- Negotiate and oversee contracts for custodial services, repairs, construction, and security.
- Develop, monitor, and manage the facilities budget, identifying cost-saving strategies where appropriate.
- Supervise construction projects, including plan reading and contractor oversight.
Space & Resource Management
- Manage office space planning, layout optimization, and reconfigurations.
- Determine and manage equipment, supply, and office resource needs for new and existing spaces.
- Oversee office services such as supplies, snacks, lunch and parking permits, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional experience in facilities management or a similar role, including administrative duties (i.e., contract markup, alarm app monitoring, etc.).
- Strong knowledge of building systems and maintenance.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and GSuite.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage budgets and negotiate contracts.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations and compliance requirements.
- Requires physical exertion to manually lift, move, pull, push, or carry materials or objects up to 50 pounds; climb a ladder for maintenance or storage purposes; change lightbulbs.
- Highly organized and task oriented, with meticulous attention to detail.
- Comfortable working in a dynamic and fast-paced development environment.
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Facility Management, Business Administration, or related field.
- Experience working in an engineering or manufacturing facility.
- Experience working in a security-minded industry (i.e., aerospace, government, defense).
- Familiarity with facilities management software solutions.
- Shipping and receiving experience.
- Construction and maintenance supervision.

Our standard pay ranges are based on the role’s function and level, benchmarked against similar growth-stage companies. Compensation may vary based on geographical location, as certain regions may have different cost-of-living factors. The final offer will also be influenced by the candidate's skills, responsibilities, and relevant experience.
Compensation Range
The Compensation Range for this role is $130,000-$ 150,000 DOE.
