Description
The Drafting Project Specialist plays a key role in translating residential design concepts into precise technical drawings and documentation. Working closely with the Lead Residential Designer, this position ensures that design intent is accurately captured, code-compliant, and ready for construction. The ideal candidate has strong CAD skills, attention to detail, and a collaborative mindset.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Produce detailed architectural drawings, floor plans, elevations, sections, and construction documents using CAD software.
- Interpret design sketches and concepts provided by the Lead Residential Designer and convert them into technical drawings.
- Maintain drawing standards and ensure consistency across all project documentation
- Collaborate with the Lead Residential Designer to understand project scope, timelines, and design intent.
- Assist in coordinating with engineering, construction, and permitting teams to ensure drawings meet all requirements.
- Track revisions and updates to drawings throughout the project lifecycle.
- Participate in design review meetings and contribute to problem-solving discussions.
- Utilize CAD and BIM tools efficiently; suggest improvements to drafting workflows and tool
- Engage with current and prospective customers to review and discuss house plans and design options.
Safety And Compliance
- Uphold all cooperative policies.
- Follow and comply with all laws and regulations both State and Federal
- Attend all employee safety meetings, etc. held as required or scheduled in conjunction with the Safety Director or location.
- Adhere to all CFE safety protocols while on job sites.
Other Duties
- Stay current with drafting technologies and residential design trends.
- Assist in preparing presentation materials for client meetings when required.
- Present a professional image through words, actions, and personal appearance.
- Conduct site visits to physically take measurements required for drafting plans and ensuring accuracy in project specifications.
Qualifications:
- Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Drafting, Architecture, or related field
- 2+ years of experience in residential drafting or design
- Proficiency in Softplan software
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Strong understanding of residential construction methods and codes
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with team members.
