Description

Summary:

This position is primarily accountable for the preventative maintenance of molds, trim dies, vents, extrusion cans, and embossing plates in the Tool Shop. Support in setup adjustments into production, mold and die installation and maintenance support are secondary.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities:

  • Follow all Preventative Maintenance procedures and document checklists pertaining to TF molds, trim dies, vents, and Extrusion cans.
  • Consumption of parts for PM on all above procedures to Parts Coordinator.
  • Supports mold and trim die equipment into thermoforming machines during the changeover process making sure all adjustments, parameter sets, and mechanical componentry are correct when necessary.
  • Supports ancillary thermoforming equipment- vents/embossing plates- help with production changeovers (color changes, etc.) when necessary.
  • Involved actively in risk assessment activities for their area of responsibility by driving prioritized corrective and preventative actions to eliminate/reduce unwanted downtime due to mold and trim die PM activity.
  • Compliance with the organization’s policies, procedures, and applicable laws.
  • Daily consistent communication with Maintenance Manager AND Tooling Lead to resolve opportunities before, during, and after Tooling PM’s is a must.
  • Request required parts and equipment for production equipment from the Parts Coordinator related to Tooling equipment during a PM.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Maintenance Manager.

Requirements

Education And Equivalent Experience:

Skills:

  • High School diploma or GED is required. Individuals with 2 – 4 year technical degree highly desirable.
  • Previous manufacturing/facility experience a must Plastic/Foam Extrusion and Thermoforming experience a plus.
  • 3 to 5 years of Industrial Maintenance experience or equivalent on the job training.
  • Intermediate electrical/pneumatic/mechanical skill set is a minimum requirement. An understanding of Irwin Thermoformers and tooling making a plus.
  • Must be able to speak, write, and read effectively,
  • Must possess solid verbal and written communication skills
  • Must have solid computer literation and electronic technology capabilities.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment:

  • To perform this job successfully, and individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • The employee must be able to occasionally climb platforms or ladders to train/assist employees with job duties, lift up to 35 pounds, and be able to work up to and including 12 hour shifts.
  • Must be able to work safely in the vicinity of open flames, hot foam, oil and metal (at approximately 350-450 degrees). There is possible exposure to dust and odors from various substances such as oil, molten plastic/foam, degreasers and cleaning solvents.
  • Ability to utilize a variety of computer software (Microsoft products preferred, Oracle/Peoplesoft, Sharepoint, etc.).
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work activities and to handle multiple assignments and/or projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to communicate safety, goals and Company expectations with appropriate levels of the organization; create clear, timely audience appropriate messages (both written and verbal). Drive department goals and consistently adhere to the advancement of the Maintenance and Tooling Department.
