Lori’s Gifts is the nation’s largest hospital gift shop retailer, dedicated to delivering exceptional customer experiences and supporting our stores nationwide. We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join our growing team. This role is responsible for accurate financial reporting, inventory accounting, and accrual-based reconciliations, while also supporting month-end close, process improvements, and cross-functional initiatives.
What You Will Do (Responsibilities)
- Manage inventory accounting processes within a retail environment, ensuring compliance with GAAP.
- Prepare and review inventory reports and analyze trends/variances to provide insights to management.
- Perform accrual-based P&L reconciliations and monthly fluctuation analyses, including preparation of journal entries
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (operations and finance) to align inventory valuation, cost accounting, and control practices.
- Assist with monthly and annual close, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of deliverables.
- Provide documentation and support for internal and external audits.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation, driving efficiency through technology.
- Ensure accounting policies, and procedures, are clearly documented and updated.
- Partner with leadership on ad hoc projects and special initiatives as needed.
Requirements (What We’Re Looking For)
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required).
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with exposure to inventory cost accounting, accrual-based reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Experience in multi-unit retail environments ($100M+ revenue preferred).
- Proficiency in NetSuite/ERP is a must. Mi9 inventory system a plus.
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis).
- Strong understanding of GAAP, public accounting principles, and internal controls.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- CPA track preferred.
