Position Overview
The Program Project Coordinator will be responsible for supporting one TRIO Upward Bound grant-funded program and providing some supervision of staff in both Upward Bound programs. This will require in-depth knowledge of program functions. The primary responsibility for this position is to provide federally mandated services to TRIO Upward Bound students. Duties include a variety of tasks such as program planning and development, assistance in grant writing, coordination of program recruitment, assessment development and reporting, conducting bi-semester school visits to program participants, planning and leading trips, community outreach, and management of programs’ social media accounts and website.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related field and three years of related experience or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Strong presentation and public speaking skills. Strong problem-solving skills. Ability to use a variety of complex computer applications. Ability to communicate effectively with various populations verbally and in writing. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to work independently and lead project teams effectively. Considerable knowledge of University policies and procedures related to functional area (or ability to rapidly assimilate).
Preferred Qualifications
Proficiency in Spanish and experience with TRIO Upward Bound programs strongly preferred. Experience with computer technology and database use. Experience in working with high school administrative personnel. Success in overcoming barriers like those experienced by target population.
Required License/Registration/Certifications
Job Duties
- Assist with scholarship searches for Upward Bound Students and provide resources for applications.
- Assist in planning of and conduct workshops for students and parents.
- Conference with students at least twice per semester at their school and document all student contacts in program database. - ()
- Assist in developing and teaching Saturday curriculum.
- Correspond/communicate with school personnel, parents, students regarding personal issues.
- Supervise assigned program activities including but not limited to mentoring program, lending library, pantry, and community resource sharing.
- Coordinate educational and enrichment field trips, including college visits.
- Assist with online tutoring program.
- Develop and manage program website, social media, and marketing materials, including but not limited to Saturday newsletters.
- Coordinate recruiting activities with the target schools and UB staff as well as create materials for and communicate with recruits. Includes tracking of and follow up with applications.
- Attend state and/or regional professional conferences and campus/area workshops in related fields.
- Assist with preparing reports as needed for UNT and Department of Education (DOE). This includes assisting the Director with compiling data, grant writing, and submission of proposals during grant writing years.
- Works cooperatively with team and problem solves effectively.
- Assess program activities and establish appropriate learning outcomes to ensure students needs are met.
- Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate student front desk staff.
- Supervise Upward Bound club(s) as needed.
- Develops evaluation/assessment of program activities and services and establishes appropriate learning outcomes to ensure student needs are met. Provides assessment/evaluation results to relevant parties.

Work Schedule
Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and occasional weekends. Summer program hours include evenings and weekends.
