Job Summary:This position will work closely with ADOT clients and review and issue Arizona Fuel Supplier and Vendor License to suppliers, Restricted Distributors and Vendors. This position will also perform routine to moderately -complex auditing work, small to medium in scale such as reviewing tax reports and financial records, interpreting state codes, laws, rules, performing data sharing, mining, analysis, and accurately track motor fuel throughout the entire distribution chain. May conduct special investigations and serve as a witness at administrative hearings.
This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

Job Duties:Issue and Maintenance of Arizona Fuel Supplier and vendor licenses. Auditor will be required to review and approve license application received via electronically or paper.
Collect and analyze data to detect deficient controls, duplicate effort, fraud, or non-compliance with laws, regulations, and management policies. Examine, investigate and audit records, reports, financial statements and management practices. Compare data from no-IRS outside sources in order to verify the accuracy of the tax reports.
Communicate effectively with external and internal stakeholders regarding the Arizona Revised Statutes. Administrative Rules, policies, and procedures; testify at an administrative hearing.
- Knowledge of:
- • The position should have knowledge of the fundamental principles of fuel excise tax
- • The business practices of the fuel industry.
- • General auditing standards and procedures, as well as accounting methods and systems.
- • Title 28, Arizona Revised Statutes.
- • State and ADOT policies, rules, and regulations.
- • Automated accounting systems used by the State and ADOT, including advanced effectively with external and internal spreadsheet functions and databases.
Skill in:
• Effective, professional oral and written communication.
• Analyzing and interpreting complex financial information and transactions.
• Utilizing and creating computer spreadsheets, databases, and other automated tools.

- • Perform routine to moderately-complex audit and financial analysis and interpretation.
- • Accurately complete and assemble audit working papers.
Possess a bachelor’s degree or a minimum of one year tax and/or accounting experience preferred.
Pre-Employment Requirements:This position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job, and the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).
