Our client is seeking a dynamic & visionary Vice President of Health & Safety. The Vice President of Health & Safety will lead and drive the company’s commitment to safety, sustainability, and compliance. This executive leadership role is critical to fostering a culture of safety excellence and ensuring adherence to regulatory standards across all operations. Reporting to the President, the VP of H&S will provide strategic leadership, manage a high-performing team, and collaborate with key stakeholders to advance the company’s H&S initiatives.

- Develop and implement a comprehensive H&S strategy that aligns with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.
- Establish short- and long-term safety goals, metrics, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and DOT standards.
- Oversee the development, communication, and enforcement of H&S policies, procedures, and training programs.
- Foster a proactive safety culture that emphasizes risk reduction, employee engagement, and accountability.
- Collaborate with operations leaders to integrate H&S considerations into daily workflows and business decisions.
- Lead investigations of significant incidents to determine root causes, implement corrective actions, and prevent recurrence. Experience in Tap Root Investigation a plus.
- Monitor and report on H&S performance, trends, initiatives and incidents to senior leadership, customers and the Board of Directors.
- Develop, implement, and maintain a robust Safety Management System (SMG) to ensure compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
- Proven experience in managing Serious Injury and Fatality (SIF) a critical aspect of workplace safety, Demonstrated experience in identifying, reporting, and updating customers or stakeholders about incidents.
- Build and mentor a high-performing H&S team, ensuring the development of technical expertise and leadership skills.
- Act as a thought leader and advocate for professional growth within the H&S function.
- Champion environmental stewardship by driving sustainability programs and reducing the company’s environmental footprint.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to align sustainability efforts with customer and industry expectations.

- Capacity Model: Relevant working knowledge and experience with the ability to articulate how the framework could be implemented across the business to improve Human Performance.
- Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and team-building abilities.
- Data Proficiency: Ability to interpret safety data, identify trends, apply capacity model insights, and drive continuous improvement.
- Minimum 10 - 15 years of progressive leadership experience in H&S roles, with at least 5 years in a senior/executive-level position.
- Proven track record in industries such as utilities (power delivery), construction, infrastructure, or related fields.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Human Performance Management.
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Risk Management, Engineering, or a related discipline (Master’s degree preferred).
- Professional certifications such as CSP, CUSP, CIH, or CHMM are highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of S&H regulations and industry best practices.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and lead change in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in leveraging technology and data analytics to enhance safety performance.
Physical Demands of the job may include: Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Manual dexterity is needed for typing and other repetitive tasks. Must be able to speak in an accurate and detailed manner on the phone or in person.
