Job Overview
The General Manager, Product Support is responsible for leading the regional product support operations, including the parts and service teams, to achieve and exceed business plan, increase revenue, and control costs. Additionally, the GM is responsible for creating an employee focused culture that supports and develops employees through coaching, development, retention and engagement, while building a strong external customer relationship. This position will cover MD, DE, and Southern NJ.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Manage and direct all departments utilizing a data centric strategy.
- Maintain a positive working culture of ownership and accountability.
- Develop, manage, monitor, and participate in the sale and repair of new and used repair parts, consumables and components for new and used equipment in partnership with Product Support and Sales Teams to maximize margin dollars, deal profitability and share of market.
- Generate new service business through the development and deployment of service marketing strategies, including value-added, equipment lifecycle services for construction, utility and mining customers’ equipment in partnership with Product Support and Sales Teams to maximize margin dollars, deal profitability and share of market.
- Develop and manage attainment or surpassing of annual and mid-year budget and Parts and Service strategic plan to maximize use of corporate assets and meet market expectations for delivery and service products.
- Develop and manage expense budgets and monthly forecasts.
- Prepare and report out accurate and timely monthly reports.
- Negotiate and manage interfaces between region Parts and Service departments and OEM suppliers as they relate to contract commitments, RAMPs, Cap Cost and value-added/lifecycle programs and product support issues. Administer dispute resolution between Komatsu East, Customers, and Suppliers/Vendors.
- Support and develop Parts and Service SOPs. Maintain, administer and manage appropriate policies and procedures for operations, compliance and Safety.
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Service: Billable hours, Rework, Warranty Recovery, Service Truck Recovery, Shop Supply Recovery, Operating Profit, Gross Margins, Sales Volumes, etc.
- Parts: Age of inventory, turns, FIFO, Return Recovery, Stock vs Machine down orders, etc
Qualifications/Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
- 15 + years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Strong organizational, leadership and management skills. Ability to work with customers, motivate employees and work with internal departments to achieve desired results.
- Knowledge of Komatsu products and distribution product support management for the construction utility, rental and mining industries
- Understanding of distributor business operations and customer requirements, including accounting, credit, engineering, product support, warehousing, rebuild facility operations, IT and sales functions
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% in region (NJ, MD, DE).
Pay & Benefits:
At Komatsu, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. The base pay range for this role is $190,000 - $205,000 annually. The final offer will consider a wide range of factors, including experience and related skills.
