Job Description

Tipico is looking for a Performance Engineer (m/f/x) to join our team. Grow with us, introduce us to new ideas and develop products that maximise the thrill of sports for our customers. Every day, you'll work in a highly collaborative and agile environment with cross-functional team members to develop products and create technical solutions that push us forward. 

Your Playing Field:

• Design and execute performance, load, stress, and endurance tests using Apache JMeter (primary) and other tools as needed.
• Develop modular, reusable, and maintainable test scripts with parameterization and correlation for scalability.
• Analyze system behavior under load using profiling tools and monitoring dashboards (e.g., Grafana, Backstage).
• Identify performance bottlenecks across application layers — frontend, backend, database, and network.
• Partner with developers, DevOps, and QA to integrate performance testing into CI/CD pipelines.
• Provide actionable insights and recommendations (e.g., for tuning, indexing, caching strategies, and scaling).
• Deliver detailed performance reports with KPIs such as response time, throughput, error rate, and resource utilization.

Qualifications

Which skills should you bring to the pitch:

• Experience. You have 5+ years of professional experience in the Performance domain.
• Must-Haves. You are proficient in working with Java & JMeter.
• Tools. You have senior-level programming experience in Groovy, or JavaScript and are proficient with source control tools such as Git or SVN.
• Environment. You are used to working with microservice architecture & Web applications.
• Qualifications. You hold an ISTQB Foundation certification.
• Performance Testing Expertise. You bring expert-level knowledge in performance testing methodologies and tools (f.e, K6, Gatling, Locust) and have a proven ability to interpret test logs, graphs, and statistics to drive performance tuning activities.
• Cloud & Protocols. You possess a strong knowledge of the AWS ecosystem and its performance-related services, complemented by an excellent understanding of REST, gRPC, SOAP, and socket-based technologies.
• Monitoring & Observability. You have hands-on experience with Grafana, Backstage, and other monitoring/observability tools.
• Languages. You are fluent in English, verbal and written; a working knowledge of German is a plus.
