- This position is member of the Aircraft Acquisitions & Entry into Service Engineering team within the Technical Operations division.
- In this role you will be responsible for providing technical and engineering support for the addition of new fleet types and used aircraft into the AA fleet, then performing the technical acceptance process regarding contractual, regulatory and physical condition requirements for each individual aircraft acquisition.
What You'Ll Do
- Review quality deviations engineering data for production aircraft deemed acceptable by the aircraft manufacturer for AA acceptance
- Review Airbus MODs (Modifications) and Boeing PRR’s (Production Revision Records) and CN’s (Change Notices) on upcoming deliveries to ensure company readiness for these changes prior to acceptance of the new aircraft.
- Manage communication, planning and coordination of aircraft deliveries with all required divisions (Tech Ops, Flight Ops and Inflight) within the company, FAA and aircraft lessors as required.
- Review pre-purchase aircraft delivery records available on MyBoeingFleet and AirbusWorld and provide dispositions as necessary.
- Perform on-site inspections of new delivery aircraft at Airbus and Boeing manufacturing facilities and used aircraft at MROs resulting in technical acceptance to AA standards.
- Assist in negotiating commercial settlements and implementing commitment letters with the aircraft manufacturers for new aircraft conditions and defects that do not meet AA quality standard
- Author, review and approve engineering documentation (EO’s/EA’s/ RTPC etc.) related to acceptance of new and used aircraft/fleets as necessary.
- Oversee and support the FAA Conformity Inspection requirements and processes for new & used aircraft entering the fleet
- Manage and provide support to all technical and maintenance queries while aircraft is undergoing Entry-Into Service and/or Pre-Ops visit.
- Assist in managing and improving the acquisition departments workflow processes for aircraft acquisition
- Conduct aircraft configuration specification reviews for new aircraft deliveries and fleet types.
- Maintain certain American Airlines Operations Specifications (D085, D086, D092 etc)
- Ability and flexibility to travel domestically & internationally with short notice.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager of Aircraft Acquisitions-Engineering.
All You'Ll Need For Success
Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
- Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical, electrical or aerospace engineering from an accredited college/university required
- 7 – 10 years of aircraft engineering experience
- Highly knowledgeable in AA manuals, policies and procedures and FAA regulations and Orders with emphasis on 14 CFR Part 91, 121 and FAA Order 8900.1
Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
- Demonstrated project management experience.
- Knowledgeable in aircraft certification process.
- Personnel supervisory experience
Skills, Licenses & Certifications
- A&P license
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
- Ability to analyze technical data and make data driven decisions
- Demonstrates aptitude, ability and willingness to take on new roles and responsibilties
- Ability to prepare/deliver presentations that compel acceptance of solutions
- Ability to successfully interact with internal and external customers
