Job Description

• Job Title: Apprentice Laboratory Technician  
• Job Type: Permanent
• Location: Middlesbrough 
• Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 9am-5:30pm
• Salary: £16,575
• Industry: Natural Resources, Oil and Gas

We are seeking a motivated Apprentice Laboratory Technician to join our Oil & Gas laboratory team. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience while studying for a nationally recognised Level 3 Laboratory Technician Apprenticeship qualification.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and analyse samples of crude oil, fuels, lubricants and gases.
• Perform routine and specialist laboratory tests under supervision.
• Operate, calibrate and maintain laboratory instruments.
• Accurately record, interpret and report test data.
• Work to SGS and industry standards, including ISO 17025, health & safety and environmental regulations.
• Support senior technicians and contribute to continuous improvement in lab operations.

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For

• Minimum GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths, English and Science.
• A keen interest in science, technology and the energy industry.
• Strong attention to detail, organisation and problem-solving skills.
• A positive, proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
