Job Description
The Pallet Controller is responsible for managing and maintaining the accuracy of physical and transactional movements of pallets and equipment. This role involves fostering strong internal and external relationships, educating teams on pallet control practices, leading stocktaking and reconciliation processes, and reporting on all pallet accounts.
Experience with CHEP systems or pallet control processes will be highly beneficial in this role.
Responsibilities And Tasks:
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and trading partners.
- Promote a culture that values reusable equipment and effective pallet control.
- Coordinate and control pallet movements across various entry and exit points.
- Set up, monitor, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to pallet control.
- Manage daily compliance checks and take corrective action as necessary.
- Coordinate weekly/monthly stocktakes and reconciliation processes.
- Investigate and manage discrepancies, escalating issues for timely resolution.
- Ensure compliance with supplier and customer contract terms for pallet transfers, hire costs, and recoveries.
- Standardise pallet accounts nationally to optimise accuracy and traceability.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement continuous improvement solutions.
- Ensure accuracy and auditability of invoicing, paperwork, and system compliance.
- Train and support staff on pallet control processes and procedures.
- Provide guidance to the business on pallet control processes and systems.
- Develop, implement, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for pallet management.
- Share insights and collaborate with internal teams and trading partners to optimise performance.
Qualifications
- Experience in warehouse operations, pallet control, or equipment management preferred.
- Knowledge of CHEP systems, pallet management software, or ERP systems desirable.
Skills And Attributes:
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong professional communication skills, both written and verbal – especially in email correspondence.
- Understanding of warehouse operations, materials handling equipment, and warehouse management systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and commitment to fair practices.
- Proficiency in IT skills, including data entry and Excel.
- Ability to build effective relationships across all levels of the organisation.
- Autonomous worker and team player capable of coaching and mentoring.
- Strong time management and organisational skills.
- Experience in change management and driving continuous improvements.
- Previous experience in pallet or equipment control (advantageous).
