Why Capspire?
capSpire is a global consulting and solutions company that solves difficult business and technology problems for commodity-focused organizations.
We take pride in putting our people first and are proud to be recognized consecutively as a Great Place to Work for our strong company culture focused on our people and enabling them to achieve their best. As a vendor-independent consultancy, you’ll work with traditional technologies and leading-edge solutions for on premise and Cloud. We offer our employees progression, development and a diverse range of client engagements.
What will you be doing?
As an architect, you’ll bridge the gap between business challenges and technical solutions. You will lead the design of digital platforms, custom applications, and integrations that address the unique needs of clients in the energy and commodities space. Your role combines business acumen with deep technical expertise—ensuring that every solution is fit-for-purpose, scalable, and aligned with long-term client objectives. This is a client-facing role where you will collaborate with business stakeholders and technical teams, applying strong problem-solving, development, and architecture skills to deliver impactful digital outcomes.
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead solution design and architecture for custom applications, digital platforms, and integrations that solve real business problems.
- Engage with business stakeholders across trading, risk, operations, and scheduling to translate requirements into practical technology solutions.
- Architect digital workflows and automation to streamline manual processes and improve operational efficiency.
- Define and implement integration patterns between enterprise systems (ETRM, ERP, scheduling, risk, and accounting) and modern digital platforms.
- Drive cloud-first strategies (Azure, AWS, GCP) to modernize applications and support digital transformation.
- Guide development teams on best practices in architecture, coding standards, security, and performance.
- Evaluate emerging technologies (AI/ML, RPA, analytics, microservices) to unlock new opportunities for business innovation.
- Create technical roadmaps and blueprints that balance immediate client needs with future scalability and flexibility.
- Collaborate with product owners and vendors to shape enhancements, upgrades, and digital enablement strategies.
Skills Required:
- 8+ years of IT experience in solution architecture, system design, or software engineering
- Hands-on experience with one or more ETRM platforms (Endur, Allegro, RightAngle, etc. a plus)
- Strong understanding of energy trading products (power, gas, crude, refined products, renewables) and related risk concepts (VaR, PnL, credit, market risk)
- Expertise in system integration, data modeling, and middleware technologies
- Proficiency in SQL and one or more programming/scripting languages (e.g., Java, C#, Python, Open Components)
- Knowledge of cloud-based architecture (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
- Effective communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work well in collaborative, team-oriented environments while also being self-motivated.
- Strong aptitude for understanding client business needs and translating them into effective solutions.
- Bonus: Experience with BI tools (Power BI, Tableau), cloud environments (Azure, AWS), or scripting (Python, Node.js)
About The Capspire Team:
To understand who our people are, you should first understand what they’re not: replaceable. Each member of the team is chosen carefully and with intention. Because we hire the capSpire way, our team is certainly one of a kind. We’ve brought together incredible talent that regularly collaborates to create clean, fresh solutions. That effort has led to remarkable opportunities, including work with many Fortune 500 clients.
