Job Description
The Radiology Technician uses specialized X-ray equipment to create images of the body for doctors to diagnose and treat patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepares patients, operates equipment and evaluates X-ray images.
- Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
- Prepares patients for radiological procedure by positioning patient.
- Adjusts immobilization devices, moves equipment into specified positions and modifies equipment controls to set exposure factors.
- Providing explanations of treatment and answering questions for patients.
- Minimizes radiation to patient and staff by practicing radiation protection techniques, using beam restrictive devices, patient shielding and knowledge of exposure factors.
- Adjusts and maintains imaging equipment and ensures it is working properly.
- Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Actively participates in Mass Casualty exercises and events.
- Completes required organizational compliance education, including assigned requirements that are client-specified, for Joint Commission Healthcare Staffing Services certification or other regulatory bodies.
Operational Responsibilities:
- Assess patient and uses proper patient positioning to obtain optimal images.
- Evaluates previous studies for comparison.
- Performs technical phases of radiographic procedures within the radiology department.
- Documents findings in a technologist report.
- Performs procedures while taking precautions against unsafe exposure to patient, self or others.
- Develops digital images, creates, updates and maintains patient data files and ensures transmission of images to consultant radiologists.
- Manages diagnostic evaluation reports.
- Provides written and verbal reports to physicians recognizing cases requiring immediate attention.
- Interfaces with consultant radiologists and manages the operational and fiduciary compliance.
- Interfaces with clinic staff, technical support for regular software upgrades, maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Responsible for imaging patient records, creates and maintains files and preforms audits.

Qualifications
Required Skills And Knowledge:
- Capable of functioning independently and proven ability in exercising independent judgment.
- Consultation skills, excellent verbal and written communication abilities, public speaking skills, and proficiency with computer system.
- Must be familiar with all standard radiographic procedures.
- Possesses technical ability to obtain optimal images.
Experience Required:
- Current experience in direct patient care and must have worked a minimum of 6-months of the last 12-months in career field.
- Maintain continuing education activities.
- Experience with digital acquisition and transmission of images desired.
Education Required:
- Must be certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or home country equivalent.
- Certified Ultrasound Technician or home country equivalent preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Must meet pre-deployment physical requirements.
- Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.
- May require bending, stooping and lifting to 25 lbs.
Other Special Qualifications:
- Obtain medical clearance and maintain current immunizations.
- Must be able to relocate to Balad, Iraq.
- A valid passport from country of record is required and must be in your possession prior to relocation. You must maintain a current passport during your stay in Balad.

Pay range is based on several factors and may vary in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant’s background, experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with geographical market data.
