Job Description

The Clinical & Performance Insights (C&PI) team plays an instrumental role in enabling the R&D organization to fully leverage our advanced performance analytics platforms, driving operational excellence and efficiency. As Associate Director, Clinical & Performance Insights, you will be a key leader, guiding the development and implementation of the overarching C&PI strategy and leading impactful change management initiatives. Our platforms include VISION (AbbVie’s operational study performance tracking and forecasting system) and CATALYST (a machine learning-driven site selection engine).

In this role, you will shape and execute the end-to-end strategy for VISION and CATALYST, in partnership with platform owners, to align with broader R&D and CDO (Clinical Development) priorities. You’ll champion adoption and maximize impact through targeted communications, trainings, and stakeholder engagement initiatives. As part of change management, you will monitor, analyze, and report on both quantitative and qualitative key performance indicators to measure and showcase platform success.

The position requires frequent collaboration with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to provide strategic updates and align objectives. You will blend big-picture strategic vision with hands-on analytics and technology leadership to drive transformative change across the R&D organization. As a thought leader and innovator, you’ll leverage best-in-class platforms, lead cross-functional initiatives, and shape the future of clinical performance through data-driven insights, stakeholder partnerships, and a commitment to continuous improvement. This is a rare opportunity to unite strategic leadership, technology, and innovation, making a tangible impact on the future of clinical research.

At C&PI, we foster an environment that encourages creativity, inclusivity, and professional growth. Team members are empowered to bring their authentic selves, share bold ideas, and deliver excellence every day.

  • Continuously assess system capabilities, user feedback, and industry trends to keep AbbVie at the forefront of clinical trial analytics innovation
  • Maintain expertise in current R&D systems (e.g., Tesla, Veeva Clinical, AMP) to drive excellence and align with business processes
  • Collaborate with cross-functional peers to harmonize platform outputs with enterprise data standards, R&D metrics, and improvement goals

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific, technical, or business field (e.g., data science, clinical research, IT, public health); advanced degree preferred (e.g., MBA, PhD, MPH, MS)
  • 8-12 years’ experience in pharma, biotech, or healthcare, with strong background in clinical trials, operations, and analytics
  • Prior consulting in life sciences or product ownership in a GxP/regulated environment highly desirable
  • Proven expertise with enterprise data visualization, performance management, or predictive analytics tools
  • Ability to translate complex business needs into system strategies, roadmaps, and tech investments
  • Effective leader, skilled in coaching, development, and influencing without direct authority
  • Success collaborating cross-functionally and navigating matrixed organizations
  • Outstanding communication skills, with executive presence and ability to influence senior stakeholders
