The Opportunity

We have a great opportunity available for an experienced Full Stack Engineer to join a squad on a 12-month fixed term contract within our talented, distributed, and collaborative team.

ahm engineering is a full-stack JavaScript/TypeScript team, we blur the lines between front-end, back-end and DevOps to deliver a seamless and progressive digital experience for our customers.

We work in agile streams and are responsible for ahm’s digital platforms; a mobile app, members portal, API connected to third-party databases, and sales site.

How will you contribute?

• Participate hands-on in the code to successfully deliver high-quality, extensible, and maintainable software.
• Learn, evaluate and implement new technologies, tools and methodologies supporting the team’s continuous improvement.
• Practice Agile software delivery and DevOps daily to help the team deliver customer value.
• Thrive in a dynamic, inclusive, and collaborative team where everyone’s voice matters equally.
• Share knowledge with others to continuously improve the group.
• Collaborate with the team to develop mobile-first experiences, with a passion for customer-centric interfaces that can be iteratively delivered to maximise customer and business value.
• Experience delivering software that has quality built-in and is deployed using a reliable and repeatable process.
• An enthusiasm for promoting optimal code abstraction including reuse via shared module libraries, for example through UI component libraries.

Further Requirements Include:

• Consistently writes code that is easily testable, easily understood by other developers and accounts for edge cases and errors.
• Before beginning work, ensures that tasks are appropriately sized for continuous integration and incremental delivery with help from teammates and manager.
• Strives to be objective and reflects on their own biases when making decisions. Holds themselves accountable for decision and outcomes.

What are we looking for?

• Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Full-stack engineer.
• Strong JavaScript/Typescript abilities – we are a Full Stack JavaScript/TypeScript team.
• Experience as a proactive member of a collaborative, autonomous team working in a remote, hybrid or distributed team
• Proficient in understanding and effectively communicating within software development and computer science contexts
• Experience of React or similar framework.
• Experience with testing pyramid utilising Jest, RTL, Cypress, or other testing frameworks.
• Strong knowledge of modern HTML and CSS.
• Experience writing maintainable CSS styling using tooling and methodologies.
• Experience of modern web accessibility, performance and SEO best practices (e.g. WCAG, and SSR/SSG)
• Experience with version control (Git / GitHub)
• Experience with Node.js, Express or other similar frameworks with GraphQL.
• Experience with cloud computing and DevOps and CI/CD principles and semantic versioning
• You are passionate about high-quality software engineering, and you have hands on experience within the digital space, keen to improve, innovate and learn. 
• Highly desirable if you also have knowledge of GitHub Actions, react-native, Next.JS, AWS, and infrastructure as code tools.
