Accounts Receivable Team Lead - Americas

The Accounts Receivable Team Lead will support a global AR function and have daily supervision of a team consisting of 3 AR Analysts based in Medellin, Colombia. This role plays a critical part in managing credit control activities for cash collection across our international customer base and invoicing processes. Key responsibilities include overseeing query management, closely monitoring cash collection activity in the team and maintaining strong SOX controls. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with commercial sales teams, approve invoices and customers, and assist the Group AR Controller in driving continuous improvement across processes, ensuring the team’s effectiveness and success.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Supervision and Leadership: Directly supervises a team of three AR Analysts in Medellin, ensuring they meet performance targets.
• Credit Control & Collections: Manages credit control activities, focusing on the timely collection of customer payments to reduce outstanding debt.
• Reporting and Analysis: Creates and issues various reports to support billing and collections, assists with month-end tasks like aged debt reviews and reconciliations, and monitors key accounts for potential issues.
• Communication & Collaboration: Serves as the first point of contact for analyst queries and escalations, facilitates debt review meetings with stakeholders, and suggests legal action when necessary.
• Process Management: Manages daily AR tasks, posts payments, reconciles bank accounts, ensures accurate invoice coding and dating, and maintains a clean AR inbox.
• System & Data Management: Uses Workday for tasks like posting payments and uploading EIB invoicing files, and ensures data accuracy in Salesforce and other internal systems.
• Oversight and Control: Acts as the control owner for SOX controls, reviews customer maintenance, and takes ownership of tasks during staff absences to maintain momentum

While the above lists the current core responsibilities of this role, there is an opportunity to automate a number of the manual tasks listed above which will save time and allow you to develop the role into something more commercially focused.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

• Track record of delivering accounts receivable and credit control activity, ideally with a mixture of commercial and international accounts
• Good communication skills for managing and maintaining relationships with colleagues and customers to ensure queries and problems are dealt with efficiently
• A continuous improvement mindset, encouraging and supporting staff to challenge inefficiencies
• Demonstrates strong time management skills to effectively juggle multiple priorities across a fast-paced monthly cycle
• Proactive problem solver with a focus on resolving legacy challenges
• Willing to operate independently and take initiative
• Strong IT and Excel skills and experience of using Workday and Salesforce
• Strong English verbal and written (Bilingual English Spanish (C1 level))
• Ideally, this person will be qualified in Degree in Public Accountancy (Colombian CPA certification) or equivalent, and have experience of a SOX environment
