THE DIVISION:
The Housing Division advises the Executive Office and City Planning Commission on a wide range of housing policy issues (including relevant ULURP and CEQR applications) and conducts planning studies and initiatives of citywide scope for the agency. The division has a team of data and policy analysts who compile routine data and analysis to guide the activities of borough planning offices and other divisions at DCP.

In conjunction with the agency’s IT division, the Division maintains and provide routine analysis of databases related to housing, including the tracking of development and alterations of buildings citywide. The Division also coordinates directly with the Department of Housing Preservation and Development, Department of Buildings, and other City and State agencies on data analysis, policy development, and the administration of joint programs such as the Inclusionary Housing program.

THE ROLE:
The Housing Division seeks a Planner, who under supervision, with latitude for independent judgment, will:
- Prepare research analysis, and prepare written, graphic, and oral presentations
- Produce data visualizations and web-based story maps for internal briefings of senior staff and public-facing reports
- Develop technical documents and presentation materials including reports, maps, graphic presentations and other forms of correspondence
- Assist in the formulation and advancement of citywide initiatives including zoning proposals related to housing
- Assist in the evaluation of proposals and policies related to housing
- Coordinate with other divisions and agencies on the tracking and evaluation of housing policies and outcomes
- Perform other related tasks as necessary

Qualifications

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and two years of satisfactory full-time experience in city planning; or

2. A satisfactory combination of education and/or experience that is equivalent to “1"" above. Graduate
education in city planning, urban planning, urban design, architecture, landscape architecture, transportation engineering, public administration, economic development or related fields may be substituted for experience on the basis of 30 graduate semester credits from an accredited college for one year of experience. However, all candidates must have a baccalaureate degree.

Special Qualification Requirements

Assignment Level III
To be eligible for placement in Assignment Level III, individuals must have, after meeting the minimum requirements, one additional year of professional experience as described in "2" above.

Assignment Level IV
To be eligible for placement in Assignment Level IV, individuals must have, after meeting the minimum requirements, two additional years of professional experience as described in "2" above.
