Infrastructure Specialist- Network Focus (Hybrid M-W WFH Th-F)

Overview

As an Infrastructure Specialist at Pet Supplies Plus, you'll be the guardian of our IT infrastructure, ensuring everything runs as smoothly as a well-groomed pup. Just like we care for our furry friends, you'll keep our systems in top shape, providing the support and maintenance needed to keep our operations purring. You'll be the backbone of our technology kennel, ensuring our network is always ready to fetch and deliver.  This position is located at our corporate headquarters in Livonia, MI which we call Pet Central.  The infrastructure Specialist is a hybrid position that works in-office Monday- Wednesday each week and can work remote on Thursdays and Fridays.

Responsibilities/Qualifications

The Infrastructure Specialist is responsible for:

• 24x7 On-Call Support: Join our cross-functional on-call support rotation to ensure business continuity. Your readiness to tackle any issues will keep our operations running smoothly around the clock, just like a loyal watchdog.
• Networking Leadership: Lead the way in the field of networking, guiding our team in the right direction for both current and future needs. Your strategic vision will help us stay ahead in the ever-evolving tech landscape.
• Network Management: Oversee and maintain the network habitats of our retail stores, including Meraki switches, Wi-Fi, and VPN configurations for all branch locations. You'll ensure everything runs like a well-trained pack.
• Troubleshooting: Manage and maintain network devices such as wireless access points, firewalls, routers, switches, and virtual appliances. Your troubleshooting skills will keep things running smoothly.
• Cloud Collaboration: Partner with the Azure Cloud Engineer to manage our Azure network infrastructure, ensuring our cloud "bark" is as strong as our bite.
• Security: Keep our "den" (network) secure by ensuring continuous uptime and reliability for our distribution centers and any future locations.
• Documentation: Maintain and update network documentation and diagrams, so your fellow tech-team members always know where to sniff out the details.
• Performance Monitoring: Configure and optimize remote monitoring software for top-notch alerting and proactive issue resolution.
• Strong knowledge of network protocols, hardware, and software.
• Experience with virtualization technologies in enterprise setting (Tail-wagging choice will have Nutanix background, Almost Purrfect Hyper-V or VMware ).
• Familiarity with cloud platform (Azure) and Hybrid network environments.
• Other infrastructure tasks in collaboration with our pack members throughout the IT organization as assigned.

PAWsome Infrastructure Specialist candidates will have:

• Experience: Minimum 5+ years in multi-site network environments, preferably in a retail setting—having worked with systems that are as fast-paced as a Border Collie.
• Technical Knowledge: Expertise in managing high-availability firewalls (Barracuda CloudGen is a plus), network security, Wi-Fi, VPN, VLAN, routing/switching, DNS, and Azure-based infrastructure.
• Scripting Skills: Proficiency in automating manual tasks with scripts (Python, shell, etc.), ensuring smooth "purr-formance."
• Collaborative Nature: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build relationships across the pack, from tech-savvy colleagues to less techy team members.
• Problem-Solving Instincts: Strong troubleshooting skills with an eye for detail and the ability to sniff out and resolve issues quickly.
• Cloud Expertise: Familiarity with Azure network infrastructure, NSGs, NLB, and Meraki VPN concentrators.
• Security-Savvy: A strong focus on network security, PCI compliance knowledge is a "paw-sitive" bonus.
• Multitasking Ability: Ability to juggle multiple projects and tasks in a fast-paced "kennel," keeping things on track like a well-trained service dog.
• Willingness to Travel: Willingness to travel as needed to distribution centers across the country (PA, TX, IN, SC), with limited trips "out of the kennel."
