About The Role:
At Tomo, we're building a better mortgage experience - faster, more transparent, and focused on helping homebuyers thrive. As a Closing Team Lead, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring our customers reach the finish line with confidence and clarity.
You’ll lead a team of closers, overseeing day-to-day operations while managing your own pipeline. This is a highly collaborative role requiring expert knowledge of the mortgage closing process, an eye for detail, and a deep commitment to delivering a smooth and efficient experience for our customers.
What You’Ll Do:
- Lead the Closing Team: Supervise a team of mortgage closers, providing coaching, mentorship, and performance feedback to drive quality and efficiency.
- Pipeline Management: Monitor individual and team pipelines to ensure files move swiftly through the closing process while meeting compliance and regulatory requirements.
- Quality Control: Review team files to ensure documentation accuracy, fee compliance, and proper coordination with title companies and warehouse banks.
- File Ownership: Manage an individual pipeline of complex purchase loans, ensuring initial closing disclosures are sent timely, closing packages are accurate, the signed closing package meets all requirements, prior to fund conditions are met, and funding authorization is given.
- Compliance Oversight: Review files for adherence to TILA, RESPA, HMDA, Reg B, and other federal/state guidelines. Remediate Compliance Ease alerts and ensure documentation is audit-ready.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with processors, underwriters, loan officers, and settlement agents to identify and resolve closing issues.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify process gaps and partner with leadership to streamline workflows and elevate the customer experience.
- Post-Closing Support: Assist with post-closing issue resolution to ensure funding and investor delivery go smoothly.

- Strong understanding of the mortgage closing and funding process
- Proven leadership capabilities with experience managing closing or operations teams
- High attention to detail and organizational skills, especially when working with large volumes and tight timelines
- A “phone-first” communicator who values collaboration, transparency, and efficiency
- Ability to stay calm under pressure and maintain a customer-first mindset, especially during escalations
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the loan/financial industry, including leadership roles
- Experience with Byte Pro or other LOS platforms (e.g., Encompass)
- Familiarity with a variety of loan types: Conventional, FHA, VA, and Jumbo
- Strong knowledge of mortgage applications, credit reports, and financial verifications
- Experience working in a fast-paced, purchase-driven environment

Compensation
On Target Compensation for this role is $86,000 per year depending on performance. This includes both base salary and variable compensation. There is also potential to earn above this with top performance on the team!
