Job Summary:

The Senior Business Advisor, Corporate Strategy & Relations position assists in leading the development and review of materials required for external governance related to SaskPower’s core business, including but not limited to Crown Investments Corporation governance documents, Cabinet Documentation, briefing materials, and requests for analysis from both SaskPower’s holding company CIC, and SaskPower’s Shareholder.

As a member of SaskPower’s management team, this position is responsible for the effective utilization of people, material, financial resources and human capital in order to manage, coordinate and lead major projects/departmental work functions from start to finish; ensuring alignment with departmental and corporate strategic goals and objectives.

Key Accountabilities:

  • •    Develop, organize, and deliver presentations, reports, briefings, and governance documentation for internal and external audiences
  • •    Facilitate cross-functional team collaboration, as well as support executive leadership and stakeholders in developing strategic policy
  • •    Lead and participate in projects and initiatives identifying current and future business needs, industry best practices, opportunities, and challenges
  • •    Provide leadership and direction to project personnel, including SaskPower and contract employees on project(s) and major business initiatives
  • •    Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate projects from start to finish according to schedule, specifications and budget 
  • •    Plan and prepare schedules and milestones and monitor progress against established schedules 
  • •    Develop and implement quality control programs
  • •    Represent company on matters both internal and external to the corporation 
  • •    Other related duties as assigned

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

•    Degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Communication or other related equivalent AND/OR;
•    Related professional designation(s) and/or certification(s) AND/OR;
•    Seven (7) years related experience in a leadership role leading strategic functions related to corporate strategy and/or government relations that support the corporation’s vision, mission, and values
•    Ability to strategize, plan and organize
•    Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills
•    Results oriented thinker, with the ability to influence and manage complex and confidential issues with sensitivity and professionalism 
•    Ability to meet deadlines and deals with quick turnaround
•    Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively
•    Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism 
•    Ability to foster a culture focused on safety, innovation and teamwork
•    Demonstrated skill in SaskPower’s competencies
•    Must have a continuing record of professional development
