About Cookunity
Food has lost its soul to modern convenience. And with it, has lost the power to nourish, inspire, and connect us. So in 2018, CookUnity was founded as the first-of-its-kind platform that connects the world with the source of truly great food: chefs. Today, CookUnity delivers 50 million meals a year from the industry’s best chefs to homes all over the country. Fresh. Ready-to-eat. And crafted with the passion that nourishes body and soul.
Unwilling to stop there, CookUnity is expanding beyond delivery to become an ever-innovating marketplace focused on our singular mission: empower Chefs to nourish the world.
If that mission has you hungry in more ways than one, you’ve found the right job posting.
About The Role
CookUnity is building the leading chef-to-consumer marketplace, and we’re looking for a Director of Product to own the Shopper Experience end-to-end. Reporting directly to the SVP of Product & Design, you’ll lead the team responsible for how customers explore, order, and re-engage with CookUnity—driving long term retention, engagement, personalization, and loyalty.
This is a high-impact leadership role: you’ll be accountable for delivering a best-in-class experience that drives retention, engagement, and long-term loyalty, while balancing the unique dynamics of a two-sided marketplace.
What You'Ll Do
- Lead Shopper Experience Strategy: Define and execute the end to end retention product vision for how customers browse, select, and reorder meals.
- Manage & Develop a Team: Lead and mentor PMs, ensuring alignment to company goals while fostering growth and accountability.
- Deliver Measurable Outcomes: Drive improvements in discovery, repeat ordering, and long-term retention.
- Scale Retention Levers: Build and optimize features like personalized discovery, loyalty programs, predictive nudges, and new 0→1 ordering modes.
- Balance Marketplace Dynamics: Ensure customer delight while maintaining alignment with chef supply and operational realities.
- Apply Data & AI: Use experimentation, analytics, and ML/AI-driven personalization to continuously improve the customer journey.
- Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Partner with Design, Engineering, Operations, and Data to deliver high-quality, scalable solutions.
- Raise Organizational Bar: Establish best practices for product strategy, briefs, and experimentation that elevate the entire product org.
Who We Need
- 8–12 years in product management, with 3–5 years leading consumer-facing product teams in a marketplace or consumer-tech business (e.g., food delivery, e-commerce, mobility).
- Proven record of driving activation, engagement, and retention at scale.
- Experience managing PMs/GPMs and building high-performing, collaborative product teams.
- Strong operator who thrives in fast-paced, ambiguous environments and can make clear trade-offs between customer delight and operational constraints.
- Excellent communicator who influences executives and inspires cross-functional teams.
- Data-driven with technical fluency in experimentation, analytics, and consumer product development.
- Hands-on experience applying personalization and ML/AI in consumer journeys is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Define and own the end-to-end shopper experience strategy post-acquisition.
- Deliver measurable improvements in customer activation, repeat ordering, and long-term loyalty.
- Build and scale personalization and retention features that deepen engagement.
- Grow and mentor a high-performing product team.
- Ensure best-in-class execution practices across the product lifecycle.
Requirements
- Leadership experience managing product managers or group PMs.
- Deep understanding of consumer journeys, engagement loops, and retention levers.
- Marketplace or platform background with experience balancing consumer and supply-side needs.
- Ability to operate at both strategic and execution levels—zooming from vision to delivery.
- Track record of delivering measurable business impact.
