A full-time Field Operations Supervisor position is available with The City of Fort Worth Park & Recreation Department - Central District location. The Parks & Recreation Department maintains nearly 300 parks and public spaces citywide as well as providing recreational activities and educational programming that makes Fort Worth a great place to live, work, and play. This is a full-time salaried position with benefits.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • HS Diploma/GED supplemented by specialized training related to assigned operations and services
  • Four years of related experience
  • Valid Texas Class C driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Park & Recreation Administration, Horticulture, Agriculture or related degree is preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of principles of municipal budget preparation and management in the amount of $1 million or more.
  • Proficiency of computers and applicable software (MS Office applications).
  • Experience using VueWorks asset management or similar asset management programs.
  • Experience managing and maintaining dog parks.

The Field Operations Supervisor job responsibilities include: 

  • Manage and oversee Central district operations. Supervises staff, which includes prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff is trained; ensuring employees follow policies and procedures; maintaining a healthy and safe working environment; and, making hiring, termination, and disciplinary decisions or recommendations.
  • Supervisors scheduled preventative maintenance programs for equipment and facilities. reviews daily reports related to work performed by personnel; and maintains records of time, material, and equipment used for projects or services.
  • Inspect on-site maintenance, construction, repairs and operational activities, and make modifications as necessary; provide guidance in the maintenance of landscape design, turf, and trees throughout the city (planting, trimming, and removing); Monitor lakes, streams, and riparian zones for healthy wildlife populations, and natural resource management.
  • Prescribe correct applications of fertilizers and pesticides; manage turf and plant materials as required; supervise the planting, transplanting, and removal of plant materials in parks and community areas; maintain and audit irrigation systems.
  • Participate in departmental meetings; Inform, advise, and receive input on field operations with other division personnel.
  • Assist in preparation of special events associated with assigned parks and community facilities.
  • Coordinate field operations and maintenance with other city departments, internal divisions, and partnering agencies and organizations.
  • Serve as the primary district contact during and after emergency events related to weather, disaster, debris management, and incidents/accidents involving staff.
  • Provide budgetary management using sound fiscal controls, expenditure management and accurate reporting. Purchase materials, supplies, and assist with capital purchase specifications.
  • Assist with division policy and procedure development. Ensure policies align with department goals and objectives.
  • Interpret Park and land development design plans and make recommendations for long-term maintenance.
  • Coordinate maintenance and improvement projects with Homeowners Associations, Neighborhood Associations, and community volunteer groups.
