Workdays & Hours: The Public Events Department operates 24/7 with three shifts. Applicants must be able to work a flexible schedule based on event needs. We are hiring for 1st and 2nd shift. 2nd shift positions qualify for shift differential pay.

The Public Events Department operates the Fort Worth Convention Center (FWCC), the Will Rogers Memorial Center (WRMC), and the Office of Outdoor Events. The departments mission is through entrepreneurial management of “Best in Class” venues, and in collaboration with our community partners, our customer-focused team provides clients and guests with memorable Fort Worth hospitality that contributes to prosperity in our community.

Two (2) Public Events Crew Leaders jobs are available with the City of Fort Worth’s Public Events/Will Rogers Memorial Center. However, Public Events Department employees are subject to reassignment based on workload and/or the needs of the City or the Department.  This reassignment may involve relocation to the Fort Worth Convention Center. The Public Events Crew Leaders play a very important role in making sure all events are set up correctly and run smoothly. 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma/GED
  • Two (2) years of responsible experience in field construction, maintenance, repair, or operational activities related to assigned division.
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License
  • Must pass drug screen and background check

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Specialized training in operations, convention setups and custodial activities
  • Forklift Certified
  • Heavy public contact experience

The Field Operations Crewleader job responsibilities include:

  • Supervising a work group and assigning duties to the event services employees.
  • Setting and removal of tables and chairs and other equipment required for contracted events along with the cleaning of offices, restrooms, event spaces and other assigned buildings and facilities.
  • You and your team may be responsible for the setting and removal of stalls, panels, pens and other equipment required for contracted equestrian/livestock events along with the cleaning of animal stalls, pens and other assigned buildings, facilities or other areas of the show grounds.
  • Review drawings, sketches and specifications of events.
  • Make sound decisions, monitor assigned activities, prioritize work and use good judgment.

Working Conditions and Physical Demand

Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling and lifting; depending on assignment. Incumbents may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, intense noises, gases, vibrations, chemicals, oils and workspace restrictions.

Heavy Work – Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.
