About the team you’ll be part of
 

This role sits within Ofcom’s Corporate Group, in the People, Culture & Workplace PMO team. The Head of PMO is responsible for overseeing delivery of the One Ofcom Transformation programme, supporting the Transformation Director. This change programme includes roll out and adoption of modern AI and data tools and more agile ways of working across the organisation, that enable us to deliver our three-year plan and transform the way we work.


The purpose and scope of the role
 

Reporting into the Head of PMO – People, Culture & Workplace, this role will perform PMO duties in support of the One Ofcom Transformation programme.
 

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct support to the One Ofcom Transformation Head of PMO and Director, coordinating programme initiatives and stakeholder engagement.
  • Responsible for tracking programme deliverables, ensuring alignment with the programme plan of work.
  • Work closely with project leads and cross-functional teams, ensuring they deliver against milestones, collaboration of work strands, tracking of interdependencies and reporting regularly to all relevant governance boards and committees.
  • Managing risks, issues and dependencies, working with the work strand leads to ensure robust assessments, mitigation plans are in place and periodic control reviews.
  • Ensuring effective governance, responsible for managing the Programme Board / Steering Group plan of work; ensuring governance delivery deadlines are adhered to, all actions are distributed, executed and delivered, compiling papers, packs and minutes as required.
  • Ensuring effective reporting, compiling Programme Status Reports and conducting work strand/project health checks
  • Support set-up, maintenance, and organisation of the Programme SharePoint site.
  • Other duties assigned and in scope of general administrative PMO duties.
  • The skills, knowledge and experience you’ll need for success
  • Proven experience working in a PMO / programme /project management role, with expertise in Agile and Waterfall frameworks.
  • Solid understanding of project management fundamentals, including scheduling, budgeting, and risk management and strong proficiency in project management tools.
  • Embracing change - flexible and adaptable approach to managing projects and programmes, selecting and tailoring methodologies based on the specific stage, scale, and complexity of each initiative to ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Owning accountabilities - proactive & versatile mindset, demonstrating a willingness to learn and take initiative. Comfortable rolling up sleeves to tackle a range of tasks—from detailed planning to monitoring milestones to compiling reports —while maintaining a positive, can-do attitude.
  • Executing plans - excellent organisational, planning and analytical skills, with the ability to track complex project dependencies across multiple works strands and work independently.
  • Articulating ideas - strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels and present information clearly and concisely to a range of audiences.
  • Expert user of PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Building solutions - experience in risk management, with the ability to identify and mitigate programme risks proactively.
  • Experience in governance and reporting, including preparing status updates for steering groups or senior leadership teams.
  • Harmonising work - ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, supporting teams in delivering against strategic goals.
  • Demonstrated experience in change management and driving organisational transformation.
  • Ability to understand and analyse data and provide insights.
  • Ability to make use of new technology to enhance the work and to foster collaboration.
  • Is respectful, agile, focuses on excellence, embraces empowerment and collaborates with others.
  • Understands (and uses) own and others’ strengths to achieve individual priorities.
  • Shares own views respectfully to provide diversity of thought.

Desirable Skills

  • Knowledge of AI, digital and data transformation or innovation programmes is desirable but not essential.
