Business Bank (BB) supports the financial health of individuals, businesses, and communities, especially CBA’s small and medium enterprise clients, including those in rural areas, as well as online trading and broking customers.
The BB Advanced Analytics & Data (BB AAD) team uses data and analytics to identify our customers’ needs and safely deliver insight, contact journeys and innovative solutions to improve their financial wellbeing. We leverage data and innovative technology to deeply understand our customers and derive world-class insights to support commercial strategy and decision-making.
We proactively uncover customer needs and partner with Segment, Marketing and Senior leaders to deliver the best offer and outcome to our customers via the most optimal channel. We have an astute understanding of data and privacy risks and manage those with unwavering integrity.
Do Work That Matters:
As part of the AAD Customer Analytics & Engagement team, you will support our analytics and insights work with our Environmental Social & Governance (ESG) colleagues. CommBank is committed to supporting Australia’s transition to a net zero economy by 2050, by continuing to manage the risks and opportunities of climate change and supporting our customers in an inclusive transition. The ESG portfolio also covers areas such as climate risk, defence exposure, human rights etc. This is a diverse portfolio and your work will directly support our customers and frontline teams by providing advice and guidance on ESG policies through data driven analytics and insights.
On a day-to-day basis, you will:
- Work collaboratively in cross-functional Scrum teams with Risk, Analytics and Business Segment colleagues, you will be responsible for leveraging the Group’s data assets to provide insights to ESG stakeholders.
- Deliver quality analytics in a fast-paced, agile environment where you will conduct analysis on a range of topics of interest to senior stakeholders.
- Collaborate on analytical projects that help drive the strategic objectives of the business and develop and maintain ongoing capabilities, such as self-service dashboards, to help monitor and manage our ESG insights portfolio.
- Synthesise qualitative and quantitative data and facts from various sources to identify relationships and patterns. Arriving at logical conclusions, you will identify and present opportunities to enhance our understanding of ESG exposure for our customers and the broader Australian economy.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with various stakeholders. Communicate effectively and persuasively (verbal and written) to project teams and leaders.

- A natural curiosity and ability to understand complex problems and take a structured approach using data driven insights to solve them.
- Previous experience in using data driven analytics or modelling to develop insights and recommendations. (e.g. actuary, pricing, credit risk, customer experience)
- Comfortable with coding, experience in SQL, Python or R preferred.
- Knowledge of visualisation best practices for complex data relationships (e.g. in Tableau, R-Shiny)
- Attention to detail and willingness to pick up new concepts or skills.
- Confident and capable communication and stakeholder management skills.
- The Inclination to learn and use AI tools situationally.
- Some understanding of current ESG landscape and/or Risk & Controls advantageous.
- Degree in relevant discipline (qualification in Actuarial studies, Economics, Finance, Statistics, Maths, or Sciences preferred).
