Senior Network Engineer

What you will do. A glimpse in your role:

As a Senior Network Engineer, you will join a team of senior professionals driving the architecture, design, and operation of our global data center networks. You will play a key role in building secure, scalable, and highly available network environments, balancing efficiency with security to support Global Blue’s growth.

• Plan, document, and implement network changes and extensions (especially in data centers).
• Orchestrate and automate firewall rules and network configurations.
• Design and document corporate network architecture (LAN/WAN/WLAN/Security).
• Provide consultancy on data center network security for internal teams and projects.
• Operate and monitor corporate network infrastructure.
• Deliver 2nd-level support for network-related issues.
• Define and implement disaster recovery and operational security measures.
• Maintain, audit, and improve network and security standards.
• Perform RCA (Root Cause Analysis) and resolve network-related problems.
• Define, monitor, and report KPIs for network services/devices.
• Lead PoCs, feasibility studies, and network-related projects.
• Research and implement emerging technologies and security improvements.
• Create white papers and technical documentation.
• Act as project lead on network initiatives.

Key competencies to empower your journey. You'll drive towards success if:

• 5+ years’ experience as a data center network engineer.
• Hands-on expertise in enterprise network & security (Plan/Build/Run).
• International/multicultural work experience (preferred).
• Relevant academic degree in IT/Networks (preferred).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Scripting/programming/automation capabilities.
• Excellent English communication (oral & written).
• Strong team-player mindset with independence and goal orientation.
• Willingness to travel and participate in on-call rotations.

Excellent Knowledge:

• Data center security & firewall infrastructure (multi-vendor) – mandatory
• Data center network infrastructure (Cisco) – mandatory
• Cloud network technologies
• VPN technologies/infrastructure
• Network design/management
• Network automation
• Network technologies (Layer 1–4)

Reporting And Collaboration:

The holder of the position reports directly to the Senior Manager, Network & Telecommunications.

The position requires close collaboration within Compute, Security, Field Service, Application Support, Service Center departments and project/product managers.

Hybrid Work Model:

Work remotely with two in-office days per month in our Porto, Lisbon, or Vienna office.
