The Senior EHS Safety Analyst provides technical safety and health support including the development and implementation of programs and objectives and day-to-day hands-on support for safety and health initiatives for all areas of EHS. This position is a critical part of the plant EH&S team and must work in conjunction with and support the plant EH&S leadership team. EHS team members must be able to support to each other.
The position requires the candidate to spend extensive amount of time (70%) out in the plant.

As a member of the Management Team incumbent shares overall responsibility for:
- Preparing, implementing and positively promoting EHSQS Management Systems (J2EE)
- Reviewing EHSQS performance to ensure company objectives and expectations are met
- Involving all employees in the relevant EHSQS plans for activities and services
- Assessing the existence and effectiveness of EHSQS plans through appropriate audits and reviews
- Effectively reviewing and tracking corrective actions for all incidents, defects, hazards, inadequacies of procedures and suggested improvements that are escalated
- Implementing leadership requirements specified in the EHS Management Standards
- Drive EHSQS Excellence Culture and Improvements in Area of Responsibility
- Focus on EHSQS Systems, Policies, & Procedures and their effects on day to day operations
- Audit and Review EHSQS effectiveness in area
EHSQS Critical Level 1 – Strategic
•Drive EHSQS Excellence Culture and Improvements for the Sagamore Plant•Develop/Design EHSQS Policies and Procedures and Best Practices•Set EHSQS Goals and Objectives for the Sagamore Plant·As a strategic role member of the Management Team incumbent shares overall responsibility for:
•Leading, modelling, and area accountability of adherence to global / local EHSQS Policy and Procedures •Setting objectives and targets for EHSQS performance and improvement•Assigning responsibility and authority for QS implementation activities •Providing the adequate resources needed to implement the policy •Ensuring knowledge and skills are developed to effectively apply the EHSQS systems and standards•Reviewing the EHSQS system to ensure its continuing suitability, adequacy, effectiveness•Actively communicating leadership and commitment that is visible to the organization•Ensuring and maintaining plant compliance with Non-GMO programTate & Lyle complies with all local/state regulations requiring salary range transparency.
When determining final compensation, we take into consideration: skillset, job scope, knowledge, prior experience, cost of living, market data, budget availability, and other factors as permitted by law.
Starting pay for this position is $69,000.00 - 92,000.00 - 115,000.00 USD Annually

Main Accountabilities
Responsible for maintaining compliance with all Federal, State, Local and Tate & Lyle Best Practice EHS regulations and standards
- Lead continuous improvement of Safety performance including:
- Own Element(s) of the EHS Management System
- Ability to work effectively in a union environment
- Lead employee safety teams, coordinate training, perform audits and inspections
- Provide timely reports to EHS manager, site management and Tate & Lyle
- Responsibilities also include integration of EHS standards applicable to new and existing equipment and processes
- Lead Incident Investigations
- Provide Safety Support to supervisors and hourly workforce
- Maintain an in-depth knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements
- Develop, implement and maintain Safety programs and projects to aid in assuring compliance with all Federal, State, and local regulations

- Champion / lead the overall site safety program.
- Develop and establish an effective safety program that will yield year-on-year reductions in incident rates.
- Work with site management and corporate safety to create/develop safety culture at all levels of the site organization.
- Provide technical assistance in helping with the resolution of safety issues
- Coach and assist Area Managers in the development of effective safety programs.
- Assist and participate with department and site-wide safety teams.
- Inspect, audit and monitor equipment, work areas and work practices and procedures for compliance with established health and safety rules and regulations.
- Assist in identifying, preventing, recommending control measures and eliminating safety hazards.
- Develop safety training, policy development and safety promotion.
- Assist with new and modified processes/equipment/product development to ensure safety is included at all levels of design through implementation.
- Participate in safety & industrial hygiene reviews, routine safety inspections and incident investigations, making appropriate recommendations.
- Assist with the Contractor Safety program.
- Maintain accurate plant safety statistics and report timely to corporate safety
- Be part of the T&L Network Safety Committee and be the conduit for communication and information between the plant and the committee. Lead the roll out of new committee initiatives and the plant.
- Ability to focus on details and understand the overall impact of events and decisions.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Strong Computer Skills (database, word processing, spreadsheet, etc.) and able to analyze data for trends and accurate reporting.
- Ability to effectively motivate people and to enlist needed cooperation in implementing effective safety programs.
Performance Measures
- The incumbent will be measured against site EHS, Quality, Production, Reliability and Leadership goals.
Skills and experience required
- Bachelor’s degree in related field, CSP preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as safety manager/specialist in an process/food industrial environment
- 5 to 10 year’s relevant experience in heavy manufacturing or construction environment preferred.
- Previous safety management experience.
- Understanding of OSHA and other regulatory requirements
- Ability to interface effectively with all levels within the company and organizations outside Tate & Lyle (such as Regulatory Agencies, OSHA)
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
- Ability to influence others and lead small teams
- Lead initiatives of moderate scope and impact
- Effective problem identification and solution skills

- Experience in root cause investigation techniques
Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to safely perform the following tasks:
- Ability to wear personnel protective equipment (PPE)
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders (fixed/portable) when safe to do so.
- Ability to work from heights, and in cold and hot environments.
- Climb a vertical ladder up to 15ft
- Climb several flights of stairs.
- Stand for prolonged periods of time
- Bending and twisting motion at the waist and knees
- Ability to work a rotating shift schedule with flexibility to work alternate schedules as needed.
