Job Summary
As part of a cross functional team, the Trade Specialist will support all inbound and outbound shipment regulations, support Nidec Traction business units with the duty reduction procedures and qualification of origin for Free trade Agreements. Must be familiar with trade, customs and commerce laws of Noth America. Specialist will be responsible for prioritising tasks, supporting expected cost reduction activities, managing day to day trade compliance activities and reporting costs.Job Description
Business Impact
As a Trade Compliance professional the Specialist will make a valuable contribution to Nidec Traction objectives applying both commercial and business acumen, demonstrated by:
- Significantly contributing to optimize duty impact for Nidec Traction by ensuring correct application of the qualification and classification for every product and component.
- Performing audits on import and export activity to ensure accuracy, including post entry adjustments, etc.
- Measuring the performance of trade activities; developing strategies to minimize risk to stakeholders.
- Minimizing duty impact.
- Providing advice and guidance on all trade compliance related issues.
Key Job Responsibilities:
Manage Trade Compliance and logistics at a tactical level:
- Provide guidance and advice regarding interpretation of US Import/Export regulations as necessary.
- Perform Free Trade Agreement (FTA) and Special Trade Program (STP) eligibility and verification.
- Conduct import compliance and operational assessments, audits, and reviews including classification, valuation, Other Government Agencies requirements or regulations.
- Work and develop compliance procedures for operational trade and compliance.
- Develop import/export compliance forms, tools, templates, and performance reports.
- KPI´s for management and constantly improving procedures and activities to reduce duties, taxes for all the North America business units.
- Liaising with internal stakeholders, suppliers, logistics, transportation companies, customs brokers, and government dependents
- Implement best practice trade principles, policies, and processes across the organization to improve operational and financial performance.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures and agreed routing guide.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and identify inefficiencies and cost optimization opportunities.
- Provide advice and guidance on all logistics issues and on all activities which could have an impact on duties, taxes and foreign trade regulations.
Relationship Management
- Develop and maintain strong partnerships with all Nidec trade compliance departments, other Nidec Traction departments and externally to ensure alignment and strong performance.

Required Qualifications And Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
- Qualification in Logistics, Trade Compliance, or relevant discipline.
- Must have exceptional communication skills, verbal and written.
Experience
- 5-8 years of import and export compliance operational experience.
- Trade program requirements, especially expertise in determination of Free Trade Agreement (FTA) eligibility.
- Country of origin determination and marking requirements.
- Anti-Dumping and Countervailing Duties.
- Valuation and impact determination.
- Import and Export Classification and duty optimization (Immex programs, Rule 8th, Prosec, Duty drawback, etc.)
- Proven ability to apply regulatory requirements to business transactions and to guide and help the business units to implement such requirements.
- Experience in performing process analysis and design, identifying gaps, making appropriate recommendations, and implementing redesigned processes.
- Solid project management experience and ability to deliver quality work products with aggressive deadlines.
- Knowledge of international shipping regulations, certifications and programs, AEO, CTPAT, among others.
- Knowledge of the various customs processes and import and export procedures and ensure compliance with US-CAN and foreign government laws.
