QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. in Sociology or Criminology by September 1, 2026 

RESPONSIBILITIES: We seek applicants with evidence of successful teaching and scholarship in criminology or a closely related field to support our sociology undergraduate program and forensic psychology certificate. Specialization in a field of digital criminology (e.g., social media crime, cybercrime, online victimization, online communities) is a plus. The successful candidate will join a vibrant academic unit that prioritizes interdisciplinary teaching and research collaboration between the humanities and social sciences. The candidate will have the opportunity to teach existing elective criminology courses within the sociology major (e.g., Juvenile Delinquency, Sociology of Deviance, Introduction to Criminal Justice), as well as Research Methods and Introduction to Sociology. In addition, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to a new interdisciplinary media studies graduate program. The normal teaching load is three courses per quarter. A strong commitment to exemplary teaching at the undergraduate level, scholarship/research activity, and good interpersonal and collegial skills are expected  

THE UNIVERSITY: Louisiana Tech is a selective admissions university and offers a broad range of fully accredited undergraduate degrees in a variety of majors and doctoral programs in areas of specified expertise. The School of Human Inquiry offers Bachelor of Arts degrees in Political Science, History, Communication Studies, and Sociology, as well as minors in Geography and Philosophy. The campus is located in Ruston, Louisiana, 70 miles east of Shreveport and 30 miles west of Monroe on Interstate 20.
