Why we’re hiring

We run lessons year-round and require a certified lifeguard on deck for safety. We need reliable coverage for two dates. If you’re solid on skills, show up on time, and communicate like a pro, we want you.

Shift details

• Oct 4 (Sat): ≈ 9:15am - 1:00pm
• Oct 8 (Wed): ≈ 3:30–7:00 PM
• Location: Indoor pool in Hermosa Beach, CA (exact address provided upon hire)
• On-deck only (no teaching).

What you’ll do

• Maintain surveillance of swimmers and pool deck during lessons
• Enforce pool safety rules and our facility’s policies
• Respond to incidents and perform rescues/first aid as trained
• Complete brief incident/near-miss notes if needed

Must-have qualifications

• American Red Cross Lifeguarding (current) with CPR/AED and First Aid
• Able to pass standard skills on request (e.g., deep-water retrieval/brick carry, efficient entries)
• Strong communication, professional demeanor, and punctuality
• Minimum age 18 preferred (tell it like it is: this is a kid-focused program with parents on deck—professionalism matters)

Our instructors should like working with this age group and be good at making parents feel comfortable. It's helpful if you have experience with children or in a child-focused job, but it's not required if you can show the right attitude. The job comes with specialized training in our advanced and unique British Swim School approach.

We also have exciting opportunities with our Customer Service Team, even if you're not in the pool. These are the people committed to providing the best service in the industry. In these roles, you might talk to parents on the phone or by the pool. Wherever you are, the aim is to make everyone feel like part of the British Swim School Family as we focus on ensuring the “Survival of the Littlest.”
