Job Summary:
The Facilities Technician at Magna Engineered Glass supports preventive maintenance activities and ensures the upkeep of production equipment, facility systems, and grounds. This role helps maintain efficient, safe, and reliable operations while contributing to sustainability, continuous improvement, and compliance with safety and environmental standards.
Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance (PM) on facility equipment and systems.
- Maintain cleanliness and appearance of facility equipment, including cleaning and painting as needed.
- Execute general painting tasks for floors, walls, and other facility surfaces.
- Support overall facility upkeep and repair to ensure a clean, safe, and functional environment.
- Accurately complete required documentation and maintenance records.
- Participate in the annual planning process by understanding plant objectives and identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Perform various duties in support of the facility and surrounding areas, including managing individual projects and overseeing multiple outside contractors as necessary.
- Maintain and troubleshoot a wide range of facility systems and infrastructure, including but not limited to:
o HVAC system for the office and plant floor
o Water softener and RO (Reverse Osmosis) systems
o Mefog humidification system
o Tower water cooling and treatment systems
o Air make up units, boilers, air compressors and air dryers
o Grounds sprinkler system and building drainage
o Building interior/exterior walls and floors
o Asphalt and concrete surfaces
o Membrane roofing, roof exhaust fans and stacks
o All interior and exterior doors, dock plates and locks
o Lighting systems (interior and exterior)
o Fire protection system
o Plumbing systems and warehouse racking.
- Participate in and support continuous improvement initiatives, including projects focused on cost reduction, energy efficiency, equipment reliability, and process enhancements.
- Develop and maintain preventive maintenance procedures; periodically audit and update existing processes.
- Perform all work in compliance with Magna and Magna Engineered Glass Systems Health, Safety and. Environmental policies and procedures as well as all federal, State and local laws; promptly report any hazardous condition or workplace injury to immediate supervisor or EHS designate.
- Lead or support sustainability and energy management initiatives in alignment with corporate goals and projects.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or certifications in facility maintenance, HVAC, or related fields preferred.
- Previous experience in preventative maintenance and facility systems strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to prioritize tasks, solve problems, and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment with competing demands.
- Ability to understand and follow written, verbal, and diagrammatic instructions; strong practical reasoning and troubleshooting skills.
- Working knowledge of building systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical equipment; experience with hand and power tools required.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 50 pounds, and perform physical tasks such as climbing ladders, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Demonstrated good interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills to communicate with internal and external contacts and work in a team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently.
- Knowledge of safety standards and protocols in manufacturing environments.
- English proficiency required, with strong verbal and written communication skills. Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
Physical Demands:
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
- Repetitive bending, twisting, turning, lifting.
- Repetitive use of hands, including gripping, grasping, pinching, squeezing
- Prolonged standing at least 8 hours, but up to 12 hours per day
- Regular walking between buildings, occasionally working outside
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to the risk of electrical shock. The employee occasionally work in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
Certifications And Licenses:
· Forklift License
· Scissorlift and boomlift licenses
