Job Summary

The Senior Manager of Commercial Loan Operations leads the end-to-end operational execution of commercial loan servicing activities, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across the loan lifecycle. This role is responsible for managing teams handling booking, funding, servicing, payoff, and reporting of complex commercial loan products. The Senior Manager plays a key role in driving process improvement, system optimization, risk mitigation, and cross-functional collaboration with credit, legal, compliance, and business partners.

This position will report to one of our three regional offices located in Troy, MI HIcksville, NY or Manhattan, NY on a hybrid schedule.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage day-to-day operations related to commercial loan boarding, funding, modifications, servicing, payoffs, and collateral management.
  • Monitor SLAs and KPIs to ensure timely and accurate loan operations delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements (e.g., OCC, FDIC, HMDA), and loan documentation standards.
  • Manage and develop a high-performing team through coaching, training, and goal setting.
  • Collaborate with credit, legal, product, and treasury functions to support loan origination and servicing needs.
  • Identify and implement process improvements, automation opportunities, and efficiency initiatives.
  • Oversee operational controls, reconciliations, quality assurance, and audit responses to minimize risk exposure.
  • Partner with technology teams and vendors to enhance loan servicing platforms and resolve system issues.
  • Drive operational readiness and execution for new commercial lending products or strategic initiatives.

Additional Accountabilities

  • Performs special projects, and additional duties and responsibilities as required.
  • Consistently adheres to regulatory and compliance policies and standards linked to the job as listed and complete required compliance trainings.  Accountable to maintain compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations.

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma, GED or Foreign Equivalent and at least 10 years related experience.
  • Minimum experience required: 8+ Years managing people, processes or programs in a coaching and/or mentorship capacity in a large commercial bank or related financial institution.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate Degree (4 years or equivalent) and at least 10 years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with loan syndications, participations, and intercompany transactions.
  • Familiarity with vendor oversight or offshore operations.
  • Process improvement mindset; Lean Six Sigma or similar certification a plus.
  • Experience with M&A integrations or operational transformations.

Job Competencies:

  • Thorough knowledge of Commercial Loan Servicing. Including knowledge of CRE, C&I, construction, and SBA loan products and familiarity with core servicing systems (e.g. ACBS, AFSVision, nCino, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of regulatory requirements (e.g., HMDA, CRA, FDIC) and internal controls.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage operational teams in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Demonstrates a strong ability to build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders by communicating clearly, engaging in proactive collaboration, and leveraging cross functional insights. Aligns relationship building efforts with enterprise goals to accelerate performance and drive strategic results.
  • Builds trusted client relationships, whether internal or external, by identifying needs and delivering tailored solutions to enhance the overall client experience.
  • Fosters or supports a positive work culture and productive work environment, displaying importance of effective relationships with customers and stakeholders.
